Second Floor Common Room - Wednesday Morning (Before Shenanigans)

Guillermo had been rather distracted since the weekend and had been hiding out moping and trying not to think about the fact that he was apparently descended from a famous vampire hunter and he was supposed to carry on that legacy but he didn’t want to hunt down vampires, he wanted to be one.

Finally he ventured out of his room early that morning and decided to do the one thing that always distracted him and cooked. Normally he liked to cook on Fridays so he could take them to the D&D session but he decided to change things up and had taken over the kitchen to get a head start on cooking early that morning.

He decided to go for his comfort food which were empanadas and he was keeping himself busy by making a lot of them , as it turned out.

Very, very slowly, a long red feather appeared in the doorway from the side. Soon enough, it was followed by the jaunty blue cap that it had been stuck into. And, finally, there was the head of the person it all belonged to, and the wide-eyed hopefulness of the face that went with it. Those eyes darted around the common room a moment as if to confirm before settling on Guillermo.

"Guillermo," Graham said, very seriously for just a head sticking through a doorway. "Are those..." There was a moment where the thrill of it seemed to really kick in, eyes even wider with anticipation, the salivation needing to be controlled, "...empanadas I smell?"

"I'll be the judge of that!" Graham declared, boisterous and bold, once he managed to wipe the big and eager grin off his face. With that, he emerged fully through the door, shoulders straightened, chin lifted, head held high, with a flourish of his cloak as he made what he thought was a very formattable regal entrance.

(He'd been working on his regal presence, as a whole, since the weekend. No better time to start nailing that kingly gravitas down than the present!)

"That," he declared, his voice attempting to be a little deeper in his puffed out chest, but now that he was actually in empanada range, it was very quickly dropping into another pleased grin, "sounds like a good challenge!"

"I've said it before," said Graham, oblivious to any staring, because he was busy doing some longing staring of his own....at the empanadas, "and I'll say it again, but you can never have too many empanadas!"

Oooh, maybe he could make that a royal decree! It could be a motto! He did remember that his future king self did declare empanadas to be a national food...

...and remembering that just made Graham's grin widen as his mind managed to shift to something that wasn't tasty little savory hand pies.

"Zounds, though!" he said, grinning over at Guillermo. "That weekend, huh?"

Look, he hadn't had the chance to talk to anyone about it yet! He'd moved well past the wistfully sighing and daydreaming phase and now felt ready to just about burst if he didn't start gushing toward whatever willing pair of ears would listen!

You almost had him completely distracted for a moment, there, Guillermo, filling his head with thoughts of an entire empanada room, but that question was so strange to him that it pulled him right out of that wonderful notion with a confused smile and a shake of her head.

"Of course!" he said. "I remember everything! I don't think you can be a King of Daventry and then just forget it!"

But the fact that Guillermo had asked made him frown a little with concern at the tragedy it seemed to suggest. "Why?" he asked. "Do you remember anything from the weekend?"

"You don't....you don't remember that?" asked Graham, blinking at Guillermo a little as he shoulders sagged, his face crestfallen, as a little bit of doubt started to worm its way into his brain. After all, Graham always had possessed an incredibly active imagination. Was this last weekend maybe not real? Had he made it all up, and was so enamored with the idea that he made himself believe it had really happened?

But...but! Guillermo said he remembered something, so, naturally, he had to next ask, "What do you remember?"

"But," Graham pointed out, very quickly, especially considering the clear distress that this remembered detail was causing Guillermo, "I remember you also telling me that you were a vampire familiar! And that your vampire master was going to--honk honk honk. Honk honk honk honk! Honk honk honk honk, honk honk honk!"

Apparently, someone hadn't realized he'd just turned into a goose at a very crucial moment to avoid potentially dropping too many spoilers on the poor guy quite yet.

There was a slight bit of shifting, from one webbed foot to the other, and Graham took a moment to flap his wings a little and ruffle his feathers before letting out a small series of honks that....sounded like a positive answer to Guillermo's question, but there was a good chance that Guillermo was not nearly a fluent in goose as Graham was.

Probably not most geese, no. But this goose could very clearly be bribed with empanadas, if it wasn't clear by the way his eyes almost instantly honed in on that container in Guillermo's hands. He let out a hopeful sort of honk, waddling a little closer with his eyes never leaving the container except to maybe look over to Guillermo imploringly.

He'd been worried, after all, that this timely goosening would have meant he would have missed out on empanadas entirely, so this was a very exciting turn of events for him!

That peace offering inspired two very enthusiastic and grateful honks and another excited flap of his wings, before Graham very carefully and gently reached forward with his beak to take the empanada out of Guillermo's hand. And, with empanada now in beak, his feet did a happy little tapping on the floor at his successful acquirement. These happy little wiggles would soon move over to his tailfeathers as he set the empanada down so that he could better peck it into smaller, goose-sized pieces for consumption.
