Second Floor Common Room - Tuesday Afternoon
Even though Guillermo normally did all of his cooking on Fridays for the DnD sessions, he was feeling inspired to cook some fresh empanadas that afternoon and he was also wearing one of his spare capes that he had kept from Friday because he had taken to wearing his cape everywhere and it was it one of the best things ever.
He was even getting better about cooking with the cape and so far he had managed to not set anything on fire as he took out one batch of empanadas out of the oven and got another ready to go in so that there would be plenty to go round.

"Zoooooounds, Guillermo!" he declared eagerly, drawn all the way over to his side to get a visual confirmation and not at all surprised to see who was blame for this singular distraction. "That smells amaaaazing!"

He had a feeling he knew what the answer would be but he thought it would be polite to offer first.

"I would like to start eating them!" he noted happily, and had half of one already in his mouth and somewhat chewed before adding a very muffled, "Thanks, Guillermo! These are great!"

Whatever else Guillermo was about to say came out in a series of screeches and massive flapping sounds as he looked around and realised what happened.
Was he a bat? Had he just turned into a bat?

He stared for a moment, shook his head, blinked, and then stared a little more.
"Zounds!" he then breathed out, in awe. "Guillermo! Did you just turn into a bat? When did you learn that? Is that a new skill? Are you slowly turning into a vampire? Did you get bit by a bat? Is there a full moon?? Can you change back?!?"
So, so many questions!
But then he realized, somewhat disappointingly, "Or is this just a random thing? Like when Kurt was a sugar glider, or I was a goose, or Libby was a lamb, or Vi was a kitten...?"

He tried and nothing happened, he gave it a few more tries but it seemed he had joined the list of students who had transformed into an animal.
He looked at Graham, still rather excitedly because he was a bat. This was awesome!

Then he remembered all the mess he’d made with the empanadas and looked back to Graham, even though he didn’t think Graham would have any trouble finishing off all the empanadas he’d cooked.

...which may have paid off just then, as Graham looked back at Guillermo perched on his arm, tilted his head a little curiously at what might be going on in his newly bat-brain, blinked, and then seemed to realize.
"Oh! Your empanadas!
With his amr-perch still held out and trying to keep it steady for Guillermo, Graham rushed over to the open to pull it open and take a peek inside, letting out an immediate breath of relief. "Phew!" he said, closing the oven again and grinning over at Guillermo. "Looks like they're not burning, at least! Not yet, anyway. Was it a while ago that you put them in? How long do they usually take? Did you maybe set a timer?"
no subject
he had put on a timer! It was half an hour and he had put them on 20 minutes ago!
He had no idea if any of that was making any sense.
no subject
"Got it," he said. "Did you get to eat any yet? You've probably too busy with the cooking to even enjoy them!"
no subject
Could bats eat empanadas? Well there was only one way to find out ...

And it didn't take a fluency in bat to pick up on the sadness, though, and Graham grinned, snagging one up and holding it up to Guillermo on his arm.
"Here you go, buddy," he said. "They're too good to let something like being a bat keep you from enjoying the fruits of your labor!"
no subject
It actually still tasted the way an empanada was supposed to so Guillermo was pretty certain there wasn't going to be any lasting effects from eating empanadas as a bat.
