Second Floor Common Room - Tuesday Afternoon
Guillermo decided to start cooking for the DnD session this week and had started with making a fresh batch of empanadas and while that was cooking, he got to work on an Apple pie to get started on the pies that he would bring over on Friday.
He had been completely oblivious to the mistletoe and so far had not noticed that there was in fact mistletoe hanging on the ceiling.
(so very open!)

He hadn't taken more than a few steps, however, before he noticed little vines of plants slithering like snakes along the hallway. "Well, hello, there!" he greeted them. "You're quite new, aren't you? Are you friendly vines, or is this something we need to be worried about, hmmm?"
As he leaned in for closer inspection, little clusters of the plant (mistletoe, he thought it was; no, definitely mistletoe, he recognized it because it was used as a spell component in a lot of magic!) seemed to float right up and give his shoulder a gentle nudge. Since it was gentle, he had to chuckle a little. "It's nice to meet you, too!" he said, and then another one nudged his shoulder again, but the third one seemed a little unnecessarily rough about it.
"Hey, now, calm down," he told it, still chuckling but starting to get a little worried, as he lifted a hand as if to settle the clusters of mistletoe. "I'm going, I'm going, don't worry, I was headed this way, anywa--"
He stumbled forward a little, his hat going skew, as the pushing got really insistent. "There's no need to be rude about it!" he huffed, pulling on his hat a little to put it back in place. "I was going this way anyway."
He probably would have detoured toward the smells coming from the common room anyway, too, but it seemed he didn't have much of a choice as the mistletoe was very clearly ushering him that way as well, some of them seeming to somehow get a hold of his cape and start pulling him, and he tried to brush them away.
"You stop that!" he told them. "No need to be pushy! You're all being a bit ruu--"
"Oh, hey, Guillermo!" Distracted as he was from trying to fend off these insistent plants, he still managed to smile brightly when he found the source of those delicious smells and waved his hand. "Are you working on another batch of amazing empanadas?"
no subject
“The empanadas will be finished shortly if you’d like to have some?” he offered.
no subject
"S-sorry!" he said quickly, and tried to laugh it off. "I don't know what's gotten into these plants, but they've been kind of pushy," literally, as they gave Graham another shove into Guillermo again, "ever since I left my room!"
no subject
“I didn’t even notice them,” he admitted, once he remembered that words were a thing, now glancing over at the mistletoe, “I’ve never seen mistletoe do that before,”
no subject
Once maybe they stopped being, you know, so rude and shovey and gave them some time to breathe!
no subject
“They are pretty strong,” Guillermo agreed, “what do you suppose they’re after?”
He knew the purpose of mistletoe and hopefully Graham wouldn’t notice just how sweaty he was starting to get there.

It was especially hard for him to try and think of an explanation when realizing just how close he and Guillermo were at the moment, which meant he was noticing how nice and soft Guillermo was, and how that meant that Guillermo would probably be great to snuggle up with, and oh no. Either that oven was very hot, or Graham's face was threatening to burn off with how much red was in it.
"Um," he managed to get out, eloquently. "May...maybe they want some empanadas?"
Because that made sense, right?
"They should really be more patient, though," he added, especially as it tried to push him even closer, and an errant sprig went flying toward his head.
"Ow! Hey! That hurt!"
no subject
It really was getting rather hot wasn’t it?
“Uhh…” Guillermo was sure Graham had said something but he had been a bit distracted and then some mistletoe started nudging him forward in the back.
“Ow they really do hurt,” Guillermo blinked.
no subject
"I think," he realized, "they want us really close, for some reason."
Practically on top of each other, really!
A thought that was not helping!
no subject
He was not complaining at all, he was really enjoying being this close to Graham, he just wished he could enjoy it without the pushy mistletoe.

“Um…” he tried to speak but it was hard to concentrate, he was extremely close to Graham and …
He wondered what it would be like to kiss him? He stood there awkwardly and then soon found his arm being moved around Graham’s waist and pushed in even closer, which they really did t have much more room for that at all.
“Um…” he said again.
no subject
"Do...do you think it wants us to..."
Something, right? There were definitely angling for something...
"...dance?" he guessed.
But there wasn't even any music!
no subject
“Uh…”he breathed in and out, they were really really close weren’t they?
“Dancing?” maybe they could slow dance under the mistletoe tie while kissing and it shouldn’t be possible for Guillermo to go that red.
He swallowed, “I …I …I …” he took a deep breath, “ithinkyhrywantustokiss!” he blurted out in one big keysmash.
no subject
But since Graham was paying attention, he was able to pick it out perfectly, and his eyes widened, brows lifting, blush burning even brighter on his face as he was sure he probably heard that wrong.
"Kiss?" he asked. "Us?"
His mouth suddenly very dry, Graham tried to swallow down the hard lump that had formed in his throat. Absentmindly, he licked his bottom lip.
"...really?"
And that came out with a surprising little hitch in his breath, feeling like his heart in his chest was doing somersaults as he stared at Guillermo, almost too nervous to look away.
no subject
“I …er …” if they weren’t practically on top of each other at this point Guillermo would be trying to look at anywhere but Graham right now.
“Er …um …yes?” he squeaked out, his heart beating really loudly in his chest. “I …it might …uh…I mean..well…” his voice trailed off awkwardly, unsure of what to say.
no subject
And then, as if to confirm it, once and for all, Graham felt a firm frond push at the back of his head, which brought his face forward enough to close that very miniscule gap between his lips and Guillermo's, since they clearly needed all the help they could get at that point.
no subject
Somewhere in the back of his mind Guillermo was registering that this was actually his first kiss and here he was about to kiss a boy that he really liked a lot.
no subject
Right now, the place it seemed to be taking him was a sort of awe-struck wow moment, while the sound of his pounding heart seemed to just reverberate through his ears.
His first kiss! Not exactly like in all the fairy tales and stories, sure, but he'll take it!
no subject
Oh look at that, Guillermo’s own arm was tightening around Graham’s waist as he leaned in to keep the very nice kiss going.
His own heart was thumping very loudly and beads of sweat were trickling down his forehead, which was very poor timing, so sorry about the extra sweatiness there Graham as Guillermo enjoyed his first kiss.

He started to feel the mistletoe that had been wrapped around him loosen and slither away.
"I gue--" Graham tried to speak, but it didn't really come out as anything more than sort of a squeak, and so he cleared his throat and tried again, though he'd definitely dropped his voice brusquely into an octave lower than his natural voice, to sound more impressive. "I guess that really was what they wanted, after all."
And while the mistletoe may have been retreating, Graham didn't really seem in any particular hurry to move away.
no subject
He blinked a little, reluctantly lifting his gaze towards the mistletoe to notice that it seemed to be retreating, “I guess…I guess it is what they wanted,” he tried not to sound disappointed that the kiss was over, even though he did notice that Graham hadn’t run away screaming so that was a good sign right?
He made no move to move away, he wanted to enjoy the feel of being this close to Graham just a little bit longer.
no subject
But Graham cut himself off, taking a moment to blink as he caught a whiff of something in the air, and hs frowned. "Do you smell that?" he asked. "It's almost like something..." Graham's eyes widened, as he remembered what it was Guillermo was doing before they both got so...erm...distracted.
"Burning! Guillermo! Your
shamelessly modded mwa ha haempanadas!"no subject
He had completely forgotten about the empanadas, “oh no!” he very reluctantly made a dash to the oven before he set off the fire alarm and after making sure to grab the oven mitts, he opened it and some black smoke came out that he tried to fan away.
“Oh man,” he groaned as he looked down at the slightly charred empanadas, “I think I ruined these,” he said rather apologetically as he looked shyly up at Graham.
