Second floor common room, Saturday morning

When Sairis arrived in the common room, the television was on. There were pictures on it that seemed drawn rather than live people, and they were...definitely odd. Somehow captivating, though.

He made tea absent-mindedly and opted for some of the "cereal" (which still didn't look like it was made from any grain he knew). There was a picture on the box of milk being poured over it, so he tried that. It was sweet, but like the television, oddly good.

So he'd just be eating sugary cereal and watching Saturday morning cartoons I don't care if they're not a thing anymore.

"I know about th' art form, but I'm lost as t' the plot. Th' cartoons I saw back home were mostly about anthropomorphic animals." And, as he'd learned recently, racist, some of them.

“Yeah they draw a bunch of pictures, each one just a little different than the one before. Then they…you know I think it’s similar t’ how films’r made. Those are essentially a bunch of photographs taken an’ shown in quick succession.

"I don't know a lot about th' particulars, but with the live stuff they had a special camera that could take photos so quickly that they had a reel of film, that was the physical stuff the pictures were printed on...well now I think I confused myself. 'Cause I don't think it works like that anymore even if my explanation used t' make sense.

"Not likely? But what I was gettin' at was that I wouldn't be able to look at somethin' mechanical that wasn't workin' and tell what was wrong. Also I realized with some o' the stuff I keep tryin' to explain, I might need an actual physical example." Like say, a film reel.
