BEKA GOES TO GET AERYN

Beka leaves the door open when she goes, not wanting to discourage any new sisters from attending. She's humming, oddly, but maybe it's not so odd, because she spent a really nice -- REALLY nice -- afternoon with Cam, and now she gets to hang out with the girls and Aeryn, and maybe Eighth.

After a short jaunt through Dierdre's basement and the Pattern that she surreptitiously walked the other evening, Beka arrives outside Aeryn's door. She straightens her negligee and knocks.

"Aeryn?"

When no one answers, Beka pushes open the door and finds Aeryn asleep. Though her heart belongs irrevocably to Cam, it still lurches a bit at the sight of Aeryn, usually so tough, looking gentle and in need of protection in sleep.

She sits down at the edge of the bed, and strokes Aeryn's hair out of her face.

"Aeryn, it's Beka. Party's on, but you look so tired."

Aeryn blinks and looks startled, then annoyed, then realizes who it is and relaxes. "I don't feel very well."

"I can tell. Do you want me to stay with you?" Because she would. Aeryn's one of her girls. Even if she and Aeryn are a nearly even match, she can't help thinking of Aeryn as "under her protection".

"That's not necessary."

"I know." Beka smiles.

"Go. I'll be there later."

"All right."

Beka leaves Aeryn as she found her, but worries. She flips open her cell phone and calls Crichton. This wasn't the plan, but Aeryn needs someone. Might as well be him. Since he loves her so frelling much.
