Floor 2 common room
::the teeniest bit tipsy, Cally decides that reading alone in her room is no way to spend her friday night::
::unfortunately, despite her misadventures today, doesn't think anyone she really knows isn't preoccupied, so she just heads to the common room... and starts reading again::

She shakes her head in dismissal. "I'm not thinking about him tonight. Scrabble, you said? I'm up for a game or two."

::and now, despite knowing full well she is going to get trounced by the girl who drops words like obstreperous in casual conversation, Cally scrounges up a scrabble board::
It's been a while since I played, so don't kill me too badly, okay?
::grins, happily, now much less freaked out by River::

She breathes in deep, then lets the air seep from her in a tension-releasing sigh. "So. Ready to pick yours?"

::grabs a tile for first play::
W. Guess it's not my lucky day, huh? ::smiles, giggles a little due to the whiskey and rum finally getting to her::
::ponders what exact sort of small-talk one would make with someone who can read minds::

I'm from Caprica. You know, one of the... ::pauses and realizes that nope, most people here don't really know about the twelve colonies:: ...twelve colonies.
Erm... as far as I've figured out, Caprica's a lot like Vancouver. Only bigger.

[ooc: I'll tell you in a sec... I'm doing too much math to figure out how simulate real scrabble better.]
::thinks about the one real party she's attended::
Yeah, getting drunk seem's to be number one on most people's agendas when it comes to parties around here. Poker's kinda like a simpler version of the card game back home, so I think I understand how it works alright. I keep wanting to declare Full Colors whenever I play it, though.
::looks at her tiles, A, U, O, A, E, J, R:: Huh.
::hopes River plays something to go off, because "JAR" doesn't seem like a rousing play choice::
Truth or Dare, though? ::smiles::
[ooc: and yes, I just compiled the list of all 100 scrabble tiles, and am rolling percentile dice to find my tiles, and am keeping track of what tiles are gone. Yay OCD.]

River ponders the tiles she's got for a moment, then ventures a less-than-impressive initial sally. B-E-D, something she doesn't plan to get to until much later. "Seven points?"
She pulls out three new tiles from the pile to replace the ones she's used, and considers telling Cally that most peoples' thoughts get louder when they're drunk. Naaaah. She looked spooked enough when I first told her.

::writes down 12 for River even though she seems convinced the play was only 7 points::
Truth or Dare, yeah. It's kinda self-explanatory really. ::looks at her tiles, looks at the board, and tacks E-A-R under the B of bed::
Bear. 6 points for me.
Truth or Dare's just going around a circle, and each person says if they want to take Truth or Dare... and then someone else then tries to make your choice horrible by either making you tell the truth about something embarassing, or dare you to do something probably even more embarassing.
And after that time back home, I am NEVER playing Truth or Dare with Sparky.::draws her tiles, I, T, H::

She looks at the letters she's just chosen, then pulls three out and sets them in front of the E that Cally just laid down. "H-O-V spells 'hove (http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=hove&x=0&y=0)'. Past tense of 'heave', for, um, ten points?"

::shifts the V slightly to show the light blue squard:: and that doubles your score for the letter. Fourteen for you, with all that.
::looks at her tiles, chews on her lip, and places T-O-A down above the D of Bed::
Toad. And that dark blue square means it triples the score... which means i get triple one! ::laughs:: Seven points for me. And yeah, Truth or Dare is one of those guaranteed ice-breakers. But then there's always the possibility you end up with more guys singing in the courtyard wearing only a hat and a thong. ::shudders::
::grabs her replacements tiles, O, V, N, and looks puzzled back at the board::

Oh, that triples your score for the letter... so... triple one! ::smiles::
That's nine points for you.
::after a minute of thinking, sticks a U between the T of Font and R of Bear, and throws an N at the end::
Turn... only four points, sadly.
So, what sort of games did you play back home?
::grabs a Q and and A. Thinks And I just used my U. Frak!::

"Ah." She picks out three tiles, M, R, and T, and adds them horizontally to the junction of bed and toad. "That spells mart and me, for... ten points, right?"
no subject
::She is so going to mop the floor with me, frak!::
::racks her brain for a good play, but just doesn't see one. Sighs, and places H and A in front of the T of Toad::
Hat. Six points.
::grabs her two replacements, W, and N. Yep. I'm so not going to win::
So, you have a brother? He doesn't go to school here too, does he?
[ooc: and yes, I'm keeping track, since scrabble ends when there are no more tiles, so the game would never end. -.-]
