2nd Floor Common Room. (Late Evening)

Callisto sat watching an old Bitterwoman re-run.

It was entirely possible she was lying in wait waiting for someone to make an appearance.

"Good ol' Aeryn," Angel said. He might not have been checking all of the exits in the room, including the windows on the odd chance those became necessary. "Really... really fascinating. Hey, did you meet my puppy?"

Angel cleared his throat. He regretted not teaching Sean the command "Create diversion." "Um, well, uh, puppies... can be a lot of work. Sometimes. That's... less than happy. Occasionally."

Angel immediately started retreating. Sean, ever a help, sat down to watch TV.

"Um - maybe?" Angel asked. He barked his shin against the arm of the couch and was momentarily trapped there. "Possibly?"

Angel dove out of the way of the hand. This upended him and made him fall down on the couch. There might have been a little scrambling to get to the other end, but there might not have been. Vampires do have their dignity okay, maybe not Angel so much, but in theory...

"Hey!" he protested. He sadly wasn't capable of coming up with something more erudite than that.

Now there was scrambling. Angel tried to get away on the other side of the couch, succeeding in putting himself in the path of part of Callisto's head-smack. He still managed to climb over the other armrest, however, and put the couch in between them.

Sean, for his part, thought this was a terrific game and barked approvingly.

"The curse broke when I was with Buffy!" Angel said. "With Buffy! How was I supposed to know the loophole wasn't that specific?"

"Everybody said it was sex!" Angel protested. He ducked again, this time tripping on an electric cord and landing on the floor. On his ass. Hard. "Everyone! Just ask Marty!"

"Everybody's always said it's been sex!" Angel said. He didn't try to move from underneath Callisto. Sean, for his part, watched the show with delight, tail wagging all the while.

"I had sex with Buffy and I broke the curse. How was I supposed to be with anybody else knowing that could happen?"

"Ow!" Angel tried to catch Callisto's wrists to stop with the hitting. "Who was I supposed to ask? The people who said it was sex or everybody else who said it was sex?"

"It's not like anybody wrote a book of instructions!" Angel pointed out. "Not even a helpful pamplet with maybe some bullet points and a diagram! I didn't even know I could lose the soul until Buffy!"

"Well... no." Angel admitted slowly. He frowned. "Wait - yes. Um. Which one means that... Um. Huh."

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-12-21 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes!" Angel shouted, right into her ear.
