Elizabeth had added her poster next to Parker's.

It was her only poster at the moment. There was no point in plastering the school with them if she decided not to run in the end.


Vote Elizabeth Weir as Junior Student Council Representative


She headed back to the corner table where she had started her jigsaw puzzle last week.

She looked distracted, and occassionally glanced across at the poster. Why was she running? Was it because she felt that she should?

"You do?" Sam asked. "She seems more like a Parker to me."

"No," she said, laughing, "we never did find the squid. In fact, we have no idea where it is, but we know for sure it's not in the pool."

"But the endeavor was good fun, I hope?" he asks, sad that he missed the adventure.

Sam nodded. "Oh, yes. You'll have to come with us, if there's a next time."

"I like adventures!" he says impetuously.

"You're definitely in the right place then!" Sam smiled.

"Thank the gods," he quips. "I still feel so very frustrated at missing the zombie attack weekend. Alas."

"You and me both, Lee," Sam said. "It's like there was this huge bonding experience and I missed out on all of it."

"You weren't there either? Man," he says, shaking his head.

"Nope," Sam sighed, "I was in Colorado. Trust me, I would have rather been here fighting off the undead than being there."

Lee sighs. "Well, maybe there will be a next time."

"We can only hope, right?" Sam grinned, and elbowed him lightly. "And we're not sick, terrible people for thinking that way, either."

Lee vaguely remembers something -- "Yeah, weren't they in mortal peril of dying during that weekend? I guess we are a bit morbid. Hrm."

Sam coughed on a bite of apple and muttered something that may have been 'it's okay, you get used to it.' "Maybe a bit. But around here when aren't we in mortal peril from something?"

"Being constantly in mortal peril makes things more interesting, I suppose," and he laughs. So naive, so totally naive.

"Lee Adama!" Sam makes an exaggerated shocked face, happy to tease him for a minute. "You're nothing but an adrenaline junkie!"

Lee looks sheepish. "You caught me," he replies, a bit pink.

"But you're in training to be a pilot, right? Kinda goes with the territory...er, from what my dad said, of course."

"Oh, your dad was a pilot?" Lee asks, interested. "So was mine. And yeah, definitely training to be a pilot."

"He was a General in our Air Force," Sam said, somewhat proudly. "He used to tell some of the best stories about his buddies and some of the pilots under his command."

"Your dad was a pilot?" Sam asked. "Funny how these things run in families, isn't it?"

Lee is certainly impressed. "A general? Cool! Have you ever considered following his footsteps?"

Sam blushed a little. "Yeah, I have. Air Force Academy, all that stuff. Don't know if I'll make it as far as he did, though, being female. There's still a lot of bias in our armed forces against that."

Lee frowns. "Was it you that I talked to about that, or Janet?" he asks, confused as that conversation took place a couple of months ago. "That's just ridiculous. Many of our best pilots are women and our female Battlestar commanders outnumber our male commanders."

"I'm not sure," Sam replied. "And I'm thrilled to hear that there's somewhere women are properly appreciated. Too bad I can't sign up in your dimension." She may have been pouting just a bit.

You too? "Not yet," Sam replied, "although I really should get that up and running before the new semester starts. You going to be around later in case I need help?"
