IKEA trip, Tuesday daytime

Bundled up against the grey January mist, Angela sits in the second floor common room and
waits for people to join her.

She is really looking forward to some time off-island, she thinks, as she checks her

"I have decent savings," Angela says with a shrug. "I mean, I can't get, like, the Ferrari of lamps. But I should be able to get pretty much anything here."

She hesitates before a lamp with seven arms, eacgh holding a bulb.

"What do you think of this one?"

"It looks like a milk bottle," Angela decides. "And Jaye's looks like a lollypop wrapper."

"I think I'll stick with the Medusa lamp."

Rory, who had been suspiciously quiet due to her mun being called into work and omg they're watching me like hawks shrugs. "It's cute," she agrees. "What else are we looking for?"

"Yeah, Anders wanted pillows. I have no idea what he likes, though." She gestures at a display of solid-covered cushions. "these look safe, do you think?"

"I'm looking for a chair and a bookcase. Maybe some posters. Oh, and Anders wanted a rug."

"Yes," Parker said, relieved. "Nothing bizarre or off-putting about them." She looked around, considering. "Hmm. This (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15561&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=27748&langId=-1&parentCats=15561*15639*15651) should be okay for a bookcase, don't you think? He's not a big reader, after all. And hey, I heard someone was digging out the assistants' lounge. Do you know if the place needs anything?"

"I was trying for non-bizarre," Angela laughs.

"The bookcase and chair are for me," she continues. "And I was thinking of this bookcase. It looks all solid and elegant, but it's small enough to fit in the room. But maybe we should get the one you like for the lounge? I was sort of, um, old when they dug it out, so I haven't been in there yet."

"That one is pretty nice," Parker agrees. "And yeah, we should grab this one for the lounge. If we don't use it for books, we can stow alcohol supplies or something in it. I've heard the lounge isn't exactly up to par."

"Why does that not surprise me?" Angela says. "Has anybody tried to clean it out yet?"

She takes tickets for the two types of shelves and adds them to her bag.

Parker frowned. "I can't remember-- oh, the radio. Jaye said something about Angel digging it out before he left, and a couple other people helping. I can't imagine it's looking good, we didn't use it all last semester, when we could've had a place to crash and whine about Dr. Pierson." She pouted. "And now, we will be whining about Mr. Orangutan."

"He has to." Parker frowned. "Doesn't he? How else did he apply for the job?" She held her head. "Oh, it's all bizarre. I guess we'll find out, first day of classes. Or maybe earlier."
