The Lobby: Unofficial Campus Tour.

Marty comes downstairs with Sydney Bristow in order to give her a tour of the dorms and campus.

"Okay first things first. Each floor has a common room with a TV, kitchen and general lounging area. For some reason everyone gravitates to the 2nd floor lounge, but that's probably because we're the coolest floor."

"So you definitely know it's not foreplay, then." She leans in closer to Angela. "So was he kidding when he told me he was a professional killer, then, or was that more of 'Marty truth'?"

"Guys here, you're never quite sure," Angela jokes. "But the professional killer thing .... yeah, it's for real. Not his favorite thing to talk about, but it's true." She lowers her voice. "He originally came here on a job."

Nadia, keeping an ear on the tour, is enjoying the chance to get some info on Mr. Welcoming Committee. "Who was he here to kill?"

Angela shakes her head. "I don't know that -- he never told me. He talked to the principal, and he somehow got the contract to go away. Scary guy, the old principal." She pauses, a little guilty at having shared this. "He's retired now. Marty, not the principal."

"Scarier than the new principal who's threatening to duct tape the big sibs to their little sibs and cover them in jam?" Nadia shudders. "I'm beginning to be glad I came in when I did."

"Ohhhhh yeah," Angela says. "The new guy is just off. Principal Bristow -- okay, one time I was part of this group that got caught painting an alien landing pad on the roof? (Don't ask, seriously.) And we had to go to his office. And he was going to let the school doctor experiment on us with gremlin spit."

"My old roommate -- who, weirdly, was Sydney Bristow but not this Sydney -- was his daughter, and she was just petrified of him."

Angela lowers her voice again. "Thing is? There isn't really such a thing as gremlin spit. At least, not that I've ever seen. We had to tell him something to explain what had happened on the roof, and we went with that."

"Which is another thing you should know, by the way -- if you get in trouble here, just tell the truth. Lying will bite you in the ass, unless you're really good at it."

Nadia files that info away with the rest of it. She's never going to be able to write ANYTHING in her parole journal, at this rate. Let's see "met some new students today while on a tour. will have to plan for possible gremlin attack. squid is apparently no longer at the school." That would get her locked up real fast.

"There's no such thing as gremlin spit?" Nadia shook her head. "I think that's the first 'there's no such thing as' I've heard since arriving."

"Oh yes. We have witches, aliens, mutants, gremlins, vampires, demons, pirates, and people from thousands of years in the past or the future. All of which you probably already know. And gremlin bites will make you freak out, for real. But they don't spit as far as I know."

She grumbles, "Now watch you get spit at and prove me wrong."

Nadia digs her hands into her pockets. She's really starting to wish she'd brought something to use as a weapon on this tour. "What do the gremlins look like?"

"They're about knee-high or a little smaller. Green. Very sneaky. Usually you won't see them unless they want to be seen or they're about to bite," Angela says, wincing, knowing how this must sound.

"So! Um, change of subject, but are you just a normal human, or are you one of the interesting ones?"
