Moving Day (again!) - Second floor hallway

After her omgsoconfusing morning, Rory started to patiently move boxes of her things down the hall from room 236 to 213.

She is but one wee, clumsy, fairly weak girl though, so she would certainly appreciate any help offered.

~~Unless it's offered by John or Lee, because they are OMG SO DEAD.~~

Anakin laughed. "Of course it is." He sat down on the bed. "Hey, this is pretty comfortable."

Rory joined him, bouncing slightly to test the springs. "It is," she agreed with a quick nod. "Neither too soft or firm. Good for posture."

"Exactly," Anakin said, bouncing on the bed a little as well. "Hate to wake up for classes all groggy because of a bad mattress."

He couldn't believe he was babbling like this.

"It's happened before. And you know how important school is. It would be awful to be distracted," Rory agreed.

"Very," Anakin said, his eyes twinkling. He laid back, stretching across both mattress. "Yeah, this is definitely better."

Rory looked over at him before lying back herself.

"Comfy. And not so comfy that there'll be any oversleeping or anything."

"Because we'd hate for anything to happen that might affect you getting into Harvard," he said, turning his head to look at her.

"Exactly!" Rory said, pointing at him and grinning. "I will never be the best overseas correspondent ever if I cannot get out of bed due to comfort."

"And the school's apparently taking that into account for you," he said, stretching his arms over his head and resting them just out of the way of touching Rory. "How thoughtful of them."

"They're so kind," Rory nodded, rolling onto her side and propping her head up with one hand. Her free hand picked at a thread between them on the mattress. "And showing a lot of foresight, really."

Anakin flipped onto his side as well, idly tracing circles on the mattress between them. If his hand managed to touch Rory's at any point, well, that's coincidence.

If Rory moved any closer to Anakin, she was just trying to test out the mattress more. Really.

Anakin fully endorsed the idea of testing the mattress. Especially that spot between them.

But that would be a bad idea.

For some reason.

He was sure.

He just couldn't think of it at the moment.

Rory thought Anakin's upper arm looked cold. That was why she put her hand there.

And Rory's hair looked a little in her face.

So he moved it for her.

Rory, poor nearsighted girl she is, was having trouble seeing Anakin.

So she leaned in closer, because it's polite to look carefully at people when you're spending time with them.

Even when your own eyes are half-closed.

Anakin, very sad to see his good friend Rory was having trouble seeing, moved a little closer to her.

If their noses bumped together, well, whoops.

Rory had picked up the very bad habit of tilting her head inexplicably. ~~Possibly from Veronica.~~

If tilting her head meant that her mouth - completely by accident - met Anakin's...well, nothing can be done about that.

These sorts of accidents happen.

Anakin certainly wasn't going to complain.

He might even have moved a little bit closer.

Rory is a big believer in not dwelling on things that one cannot help. Such as unfortunate accidents. She firmly thought it was better to move forward.

So she did. She moved forward so that she was a little closer to Anakin, in fact.

Anakin loved these sort of accidents.

So he put his hand on Rory's waist, just to make sure that she knew he wasn't upset about the turn of events.

These things happen, after all.

Rory was glad to have Anakin's hand on her waist. It was very steadying in a time of turmoil and accidents.

So she added to the steadiness by putting her hand on Anakin's cheek.

Because it was completely possible that he was unsteady and feeling turmoil as well.

Anakin took his other hand and wrapped it into Rory's hair.

The room was spinning a bit for him. He thought she might be getting a little dizzy, too.

Rory was very grateful for this show of support.

She returned the favor by moving her free hand to run her nails very lightly through his hair and down his neck and back.

There might have been some shivering.

There was very definitely an increase in the attention being given to thoroughly kissing Rory back.
