Rory, bored beyond all reason, wandered out to the common room.

She sat on the back of a couch and flipped onto it, keeping her legs hooked over the back.

She started watching Enchanted. Upside-down.

She would totally welcome any interruptions.

"Because at least Bridge can date," Angela says slowly. "And he's okay with this?"

"I haven't asked him. I just thought of it," Rory said. "And it's just a thought. I mean, I can't control what Jaye says to whom, for instance."

Angela considers this for a long moment.

"Fire with fire, right?" she says, finally. "I just hope it doesn't bite you in the ass. Rumors tend to do that, y'know?"

"Yeah, I know. I'm just getting really frustrated with Lee. He apparently might be telling people that I slept with Anakin," Rory scowled. "Which, aside from, y'know, impossible, makes me sound like a bit of a slut."

"Okay, that's a problem," Angela says, cold. "That's just a bad, bad thing to say about someone. Especially given the kind of trouble Anakin could get in. And that you broke up with Logan, like, three weeks ago."

Her lips are set in a thin line.

"To be fair, it's from something Anakin said in the phone mixup yesterday," Rory acquiesced. "But still - I don't like that Lee might spread that around, because that's just not at all cool."

"Wait, Anakin admitted you guys slept together?" Angela squeaks. She quickly quiets her voice. "Rory, that's kind of bigger news than Lee spreading it around."

Rory sighed and covered her face.

"No, something Anakin said was misconstrued. We haven't slept together. But Lee thinks we have because of the way it was phrased. Or else he just wants to think that, because he likes talking about us."

"Okay," Angela says, embarassed. "Sorry, by the way. And I think Lee might have more muscles then brains, in general."

She sighs. "I'm not helping, am I?"

"Lee does have nice arms. I think this is one of those instances where he's prettier than he is smart," Rory said, blushing. "I just wish people didn't listen to him."

"I'm shutting him down as much as I can, Ror," Angela says. "Like, he was asking about you guys on Thursday, and I said you were friends and changed the subject."

"I don't think anyone takes him all that seriously. I mean, I hope not."

"I hope not. And thanks, for doing what you can."

She sighed. "How goes the ferrety damage control?"

"Crichton called me ferretina. That's been about it, other than everyone in the school having heard the message," Angela says with a shrug. "I just hope people have more interesting things to talk about once classes start."

"What are you taking, anyhow?"

"Um, Advanced Journalism, Paleontology, Carl Jung, Political Campaigning, and History of Art," Rory said, ticking them off on her fingers. "You?"

"History of Art, Music 201, math, Medieval English History and Socioloy of the Paranormal," Angela says. "I was kind of surprised I got everythign I tried for."

"Me too," Rory agreed. "And yay, we have a class together. How come you're not taking journalism again?"

"Because the teacher's a bitch," Angela says sullenly. "She called me a muggle and was taking notes saying I was 11. I don't need the hassle."

"I'll still do newspaper, though, at least if Chloe and Jake are still editing."
