Gym - Self Defense

The set is up familiar to anyone who showed up last term. There are mats spread out on the floor and a table off to the side is holding cookie, lemonade, soda, and Vote for Alanna! posters. Alanna herself is perched on another table.

"Hey guys, welcome back to the people who were here last semester, welcom to the newbies. I'm Alanna and your person in charge for the night. Here's the deal, I have no idea how many/who is showing up tonight, so I'm just going to pare you up. One person attacks, the other tries to get away. People attacking, your hurt your person, I hurt you. No weapons, no magic. I watch, and I'll have a list of things we need to work on for next week. Okay, don't kill each other!"

Nadia takes up position on the mats, watching Walter carefully. Her hands are lightly balled into fists and she stands slightly on the balls of her feet.

Walter nods to Nadia and takes a moment to stretch before joining her on the mat. It's really hard to know just how hard he can go with her, so he settles for a feinted punch to her ribs.

[ooc: Walter is pretty insanely fast and well-trained. I don't know what Nadia's skill level is, so expect him to try to keep what he does toned down so she has a chance to touch him at all.]

Nadia dodged backwards at the feint, trying to figure out Walter's system before hitting back.

Walter spun to catch her with a kick as she dodged out of arm's reach.

Nadia brought her arms up to block the kick, just barely too slow. It wasn't a hard blow. She stepped to the side and crouched lower.

Walter grinned broadly and circled her, dodging in to take another quick jab at her ribs.

Nadia popped up her left hand to deflect the rib shot and slid her right leg forward to try and trip Walter as she twisted sideways.

Walter caught Nadia's left forearm and used his momentum from her attempt to trip him to throw her as he tucked into a roll and bounced up again.

Nadia *thwomped* down onto the mat and immediately rolled to the side. She didn't get up immediately, but pushed herself up to her hands and knees, gasping for breath.

"You okay?" Alanna didn't move from where she was perched near the food, still trying to process the Phoebe!dog.

Nadia put up her hand, nodding, as she continued gasping.

"Want some water?"

Nadia shook her head and waved Alanna off.

Walter bounced up on his toes and waited for Nadia to get up again. "You want me to show you that one more slowly?"

Nadia flopped back over onto her back and lay there for a moment. Then she snapped her leg up towards Walter's . . . nether-regions.

Walter grinned and danced back, catching her ankle and giving it a sharp twist to roll her onto her stomach. "Tsk."

Nadia was moving her other leg even as Walter grabbed that one. She rolled with the twist and kept going, aiming for his knee this time.

Walter pivoted, swinging his hip and targeted knee out of the way and pulling up on the ankle in his grip to block one of her legs with the other, not coincidentally leaving her in an awkward bent position.

Nadia tensed, but that kinda hurt, so she carefully relaxed.

Then yanked back on her leg, trying to pull Walter off balance.

Walter didn't just drop his hold on her ankle, he pushed it violently away from him toward the, while he took several quick steps back out of reach of a kick.

Nadia rocked awkwardly on her stomach for a moment, pinwheeling both legs in hopes of catching Walter. When that didn't work, she shifted into a low crouch on her left leg, and stared up at Walter, waiting for another attack.

On the streets, this would be where she'd either pull her gun or start running. Here, she just waited.

Walter was having fun more than anything else and kept breaking out in a huge grin.

Finally, he slowly moved forward and aimed a kick for her head, mindful of her past record of going for bits of himself he found vitally important.

Nadia rocked to the side to avoid the kick, and kept watching Walter, looking for any sort of opening.

Walter stood and looked at Nadia appraisingly. At this point, he usually just killed the other person. That really wasn't an option here.

This time he slowed himself down a lot and kicked again. He was going to take what she threw as long as it didn't involve his nuts.

[ooc: Sorry for the delay. RL and network.]

Nadia grabbed Walter's ankle as she shifted sideways in her crouch, and pulled him forward. She used his leg for balance as she kicked out and up . . . at his knee. She was down too low to aim for anything REALLY debilitating.
