Outside Room 238, After Fourth Period

Sam knocked on the door, ready to help set up for that evening. After all, they needed somewhere to store the extra party snacks, right?

She looked at her To Do list:

Weapons Drop Off/Pick Up
First Aid/Medical Area
Comms
--Laptops
--Cell Phones
--Ear Pieces

Time to get to work.

Sam glanced over at Rory again. "You still holding on? If they're off comms and fighting, they need us more than ever to have steady heads. Breathe deep a few times. Blink. Look at the wall for a second. It'll help."

She went back to watching the dots. They were all still lit and moving. They were okay.

"It's fine," Angela echoes. "I just wish we could see the vampires, too. Not just them jumping around. I can't even tell which dot is who."

Rory pulled Angela over by the hand. "That white dot way over there is Marty," she said softly, pointing to it.

Angela studies it. It's moving steadily; it seems as though things must be at least mostly okay.

"Thanks," she says, not bothering to protest. "Which one is Anakin?"

"That blue one," Rory whispered, pointing to a fairly immobile dot and biting her lip. "I wish we could see the vampires, damn it."

Angela nodded. "It would make things so much easier." Then she paused for a second, running her thumb ovr her lip.

"Unless it really, really didn't."

"I don't know whether it's better knowing or not knowing," Rory said distractedly as she watched the blue dot move a little and released a breath she didn't know she was holding in.

"Not knowing," Sam answered, automatically.

Angela tilted her head at Sam. "Why?"

"Because you don't have an answer," Sam said, perhaps being unnecessarily cruel, but she'd been on both sides and those times she hadn't know what happened to Jack had been torture. "At least when you know...you know."

Rory looked nauseous as she watched the blue dot stop moving again.

"Okay."

"Okay," Angela agrees.

Her eyes don't leave the white dot.

John joins the dot watching.

"I like them better in person," he mutters.

"And not running around trying to get killed."

She shook her head. "You would think the whole having broken up with him would make this easier on me."

"I'm just concerned about my friend," Rory whispered, swallowing.

Isabel slipped in from the party to check. "What's happening now?"

"Me too. We all are," Angela said, reaching out to touch Rory on the shoulder.

"And all of our friends are going to be back here safe in no time."

"We all are," John says, nodding. "He'll be all right." John reaches over and pats Rory's hand gently. "He's got that sword thingy that's awesome."

"They'll be fine," Sam said. "They know what they're doing."

Rory nodded mutely.

"Aeryn's fine, by the way," she noted, pointing to her dot.

Angela considered this for a long moment. "I guess you're right," she said. "I already lost him one way, you know?"

Sam was too busy watching dots and listening for Parker to hear much of what John said.

"Control, we're in the basement, two vamps plus Dru somewhere!"

"Keep your eyes open, Prada. Going silent to give you the element of surprise."
