fandomhighdorms | 4th Floor Common Room, Monopoly Game Night

Late Saturday afternoon, Isabel started preparing the fourth floor common room for Game Night. By the time the evening rolled around, the room was ready for fun. A table against the wall was loaded with an assortment of baked goods from Jeff, God of Biscuits and an assortment of chips and various dips. There was a cooler next to the table filled with bottles of water, fruit juice and cans of soda.

Four tables were arranged with Monopoly game boards and space for eight players at a table.

With everything ready she sat down to wait.

[OOC: Obviously we're not going to be rolling the dice for every turn. The game does need to end at some point tonight (preferebly before 5:30 in the morning). Hopefully there's enough links that you'll be able to fake it well enough to have fun. Game piece icons are available for the truly obsessed here ~~at each of the tables~~. Please note that

peter__parker has a special doggie icon he can use at whatever table he wants. Have fun!]

Nadia smiled a real smile for the first time since singing in detention. "Ruthless? This is an American game."

"Exactly!" Blair bounced and pointed to the rules. ~~which the mun is now frantically trying to read~~ "I think you should roll first, Pip!"

Nadia leaned over slightly to read the rules over. It looked a little bit complicated, full of buying property and building houses and paying rent and-- "This is considered a game?" She shook her head. "Can we make up our own rules?"

Blair went to nod and looked at how close Nadia was to him and gulped nervously. "So, Nadia...how's your week been? Isn't the weather nice? Do you think it's going to be a good harvest?"

Nadia blinked. Harvest? She decided to take his questions in order. "My week has been okay, it's a little bit cold, but the snow is pretty, and I don't know anything about harvests. How was your week?"

Blair tried very hard to facepalm and frantically looked over at Pip. "Good, good weeks are good and it's good that you had a good week. Very, very good. My week was..." Blair gulped loudly again. "good."

Pip scribbled something on a piece of paper, supposedly trying to do some math to figure out how much money to give everyone. He handed the paper to Blair. "Could you check my math for me, man?"

Tell she looks nice today. And slow down. Let her respond. Gotta be a good listener. You'll do fine.

Pip winked and Blair. Of course, to most people, it probably just looked like him blinking. You know, one eye and all.

Nadia's smile has grown bigger, and she has an eyebrow raised. She follows Blair's gaze to Pip and then looks back at Blair. "That's good," she says, with a small laugh (not a mean one).

Blair nods and takes a deep breath. "You look nice today, Nadia." He tilts his head and actually looks at her. "You know what, that's true! The green of your shirt brings out the red in your hair."

Nadia blushes slightly. Okay, Blair was definitely attempting to hit on her. The sudden "that's true" made that obvious. But it also added some charm, in a doofy kind of way.

Nadia has always had a soft spot for doofy.

"Thanks. You look nice, too."

"Thank you." Blair stared at her for a minute and then looked down at the note from Pip. Not seeing anything else he bit his lip and then bounced. "So would you like to go get coffee sometime? Not now but later tonight? Or tomorrow since you probably shouldn't drink coffee at night since it's bad for your REM cycles? Or maybe.." Blair took a deep breath and grimaced. "Uh..yeah..never mind."

Nadia considered interrupting to say yes, but Blair wasn't quite giving her a chance. "I'd love to. I have to work at noon tomorrow, but maybe something before that?"

" " Blair opened his mouth to say something but closed it again after a moment. "That's great, maybe we can meet around 9 or so? At the God of Bisquits place?"

"Nah, that sounds like work," Pip said, dealing out money. "Think we should try to flag down someone who knows what they're doing?"

Isabel came over, "Is it okay if I join you?"

"Do you know how to play the game?" Pip responded. "'Cause we're kind of clueless."

"Pretty much. You roll the dice and make your way around the board. As you land on properties, you can buy them. Once you own properties people who land on them have to pay you rent. Buy all the properties and you can build houses and hotels on them. They'll earn you more rent money. Basically you want to be the one with the most money at the end of the game." Isabel might have bee a bit out of breath when she finished.

Nadia frowned. "Buy all the properties on the board? Won't that take awhile?"

"It can take awhile. But it's fun. Depending on the people you're playing with, it can get pretty competitive."

Nadia picks up some of the community chest and chance cards. "Okay, what are these?"

Isabel pointed to the board. "When you land on those spots, you pick one of those cards. Sometimes you'll win money, sometimes you'll have to pay the bank."
