Bel winced slightly at her first words for some reason, then brightened a little. "I can't time travel, but there are spells that can send you back," he mused, "and Tempus can reset time."

Veronica sighed. "Thanks, but no. I have no desire to mess around with magic."

Bel managed a rueful chuckle. "Yeah, best to leave that to the experts." He didn't get a secret glee over Logan fucking up, not at all.

"I've heard that love spells are one of the basic things someone can master," Veronica said. It was almost as if she knew Bel was gleeing over Logan's fuck up and felt the need to remind him of his own.

"Heh," Bel said. "That's not true, actually. Apparently love spells never work right. We learned that in Magical Theory."

"Did you learn anything about ethical use of magic in that class?"

Just because she agreed to give him a second chance didn't mean she wasn't going to be snarky.

"Been learning a lot lately," Bel said, not taking the bait. "Especially from Angel."

"Good to hear," she said dryly. "As I'm sure you noticed, a lot of people at this school care about Angel. I sincerely hope you're not planning to take advantage of his willingness to help you."

"I wouldn't have given my own blood if I didn't care as well," Bel said quietly.

"You're a chosen one?" Veronica said, her voice a combination of surprise and jealousy.

"I'm the only one of my kind where I'm from," Bel said, "so apparently that was close enough."

"Well... um, thanks for helping then," she said awkwardly.

"Least I could do," Bel said. "I still feel bad about what happened."

"We all do," Veronica said. "We tried to warn Angel that Darla might be faking it, but he wouldn't listen."

Apparently Vernoica hadn't gotten the memo that Bel had known and forgotten. And that he suggested the idea to Darla in the first place. "Yeah," he said guiltily. "Too bad he didn't listen, but at least he's going to be okay now."

"At least there's one thing we can agree on."

"There's probably more than one these days, but we'll figure that out as we go along."

She gave him a look. "Just because I said I won't stand in your way doesn't mean we're going to start making each other friendship bracelets," she clarified.

"I never expected that," he shot back. "Especially with your boyfriend threatening me and Phoebe."

"Logan threatened you and Phoebe?"

Bel shrugged. "He said that if Angel died, he'd make sure me and Phoebe never saw each other again."

Veronica had no idea what Angel dying would have to do with Bel and Phoebe or why Logan would say something like that.

"That doesn't even make sense," she said, her expression one of utter confusion. "It wouldn't have been your fault if Angel... hadn't made it."

"He thinks it is my fault, that I was in on it," Bel said simply.

"Were you?"

Bel sighed. "Look, I'll be honest. Originally I was, but I didn't know anything about the poisoning. Darla was just going to give him a happy moment."
