After talking about their day, Marty and Angela are busily making a fort out of all the couch cushions to protect them from the monsters that attack kids who have done bad things.

Marty is also armed with his de-cootying gun for extra protection.

Alanna came into the common room, dragging a rather sleepy Faithful with her.

"'Lanna! And kitty!" Maureen managed to keep her voice just above a whisper, but it was still a loud whisper.

Kitty was getting really tired of being used as a stuffed animal. Kitty meowled from where he was on Alanna's arm. "I like your pajamas!" Alanna happily told Maureen.

"Thank-you-Alanna." Maureen smiled big. "Can I pet you, Mr. Faithful?" Then she whispered to Alanna, "Does he know how to talk?"

Alanna held Faithful up to be petted. "Nu uh! He's too little to talk."

Very carefully, eyes wide with delight, Maureen petted the kitty, because she has a bunny and knows you have to be del-i-cate. "He's soooo pretty. Want to watch Bitterwoman while they make the forts?"

The kitty purred at being petted. "He is. And he and I have the same eyes, isn't that so awesome?" Alanna's eyes lit up. "I got to help Angel make forts today! Don't you wanna make forts? It's really really really fun!"

"Purple is the best," Maureen said with authority, then giggled and bounced. "Okay! Show me how! Marty and Angela took all *those* cushions, and AlexKrycek took all *those* cushions. Should we get s'more?"

Alanna nodded rappidly and made a bunch of cushions fly to the place where she and Maureen were standing. "Yup! Thom 'n I usually used rocks and that one time Thom accidentally dropped a rock on my head only I jumped away and it hit my foot instead and it hurt." Alanna still had her ability to cram five sentances together into one.

"Owies," Maureen said solemnly. "Cushions are way better. Oooooo! Wait wait wait!" She ran down the hall very fast, then came back, trailing the pink down comforter from her bed. "For camel-flaze! So we're invisible to monsters!"

"Perfect!" Alanna made the blanket hover above her and Maureen's heads. "Now we set up the biggestest cushions as the basses and stuff."

Maureen moved the cushions around, and left some to sleep on, and giggled before pushing and pushing and pushing one of the armchairs over to hide behind. "Fort Violet and Pink will defend us!"

Alanna helped Maureen out without actually touching any of the furniture. "For Violet. Pink is a girly girl color." She flopped down and bounced on one of the cushions before remembering to lower everything that was still floating. "Boing!"

"I like pink," Maureen responded stubbornly. "It's shiny and it's not a boy color." She crowled under the comforter, then bounced on her knees on the cushions inside. "Boing boing! Boing!"

"Boys get cooler colors then girls." Alanna informed Maureen and joined in the bouncing. Faithful curled up in a corner.

"I like green and purple and blue and pink and RED lots of red and yellow like my jammie flowers and orange which is yummy." Boing! Boing! Boing! Yawwwwwwn. Maureen lay down on the cushions. "The monsters will never ever see us in here, heeheeheee."

Alanna curled up with Faithful. "I like purple. And red. Red is an awesome color."
