5th floor common room, noonish

Buffy had found the little kitchenette attached to the common room. There were lots of cereals there, but there was also flour, milk and eggs...

Oooh, pancakes! thought Buffy, and rummaged through the cabinets for a bowl and a frying pan.

She wasn't a paticularly good cook, but pancakes should be easy, right?

She could totally do it.

She stared at the flour. "I can do this. Yup. Um."

"We're working on food. If nothing else, we'll press Pip into crepe making service," Nadia said from the counter. "Hi, I'm Nadia. Welcome to the actual best floor in the dorms."

"I keep hearing differing opinions, but no one's offered any proof thus far," 494 said, then grinned charmingly. "Hi, Nadia, I'm 494. So far this floor has a lot going for it."

Nadia smiled back. "Nice to meet you." She decided against asking about the odd name. "This floor is great. We have pancakes and crepes pretty often, occasional parties, and it never gets too crowded."

"Crowded can be fun though," he pointed out. "Sometimes it's nice to lose yourself in them. But, all right, fifth floor is laid back and has pancakes and Nadia." 494 grinned again. "Anywhere else you like to hang out, around here?"

"The roof is always a good choice. And you should check out Caritas, that's the karaoke bar, and Empire Records and Bidet in town. And All and Sundries, if you're in the mood to shoplift tease the owner."

"Found the roof last night," he said, nodding. "There's a bar? And-- a bidet?" 494 frowned slightly. "Isn't that a plumbing fixture?" He knew the word, not that he'd ever seen one, but it didn't seem right to have one in a records store.

"They don't really have plumbing for sale. It's some in joke or something. Most people seem to just call it Empire. And of course there's a bar. What kind of town wouldn't have a bar?"

He shrugged slightly. "What kind of town has aliens, dancing bunnies and clones wandering around? I'm trying not to take anything for granted."

"Oooo. Good point." Nadia nodded a bit. "But that just means we need the bar even more. Because sometimes the only way to deal is through alcohol."

"I hear you," 494 said, grinning. "So they're not big on checking IDs, I take it?"

"Never been carded since I got here. Half the people who work at the bar are students."

"Nice way to assure business in a town like this," he said, grinning.

"Well, yeah. It helps that its the one that doesn't card us." Not that Nadia had tried to go to any other bars.
