Gym, early Saturday

It was very early on Saturday morning, so hopefully there wouldn't be anybody else around in the gym. She needed to work out some frustration, preferably without being recognized by more people she had never seen before in her life.

She pulled out the mats, laying them down at a decent distance from each other, then stepped onto on one and thought for a moment.

"Space," she answers with a shrug.

"Really?" Dean's eyes widened and he grinned in delight. "You're an alien?"

She nods. "I'm not used to people smiling when they hear that."

"I think it's cool. I never met a real live alien before. And I gotta say, you're a hell of a lot prettier than what the average little green man is supposed to look like."

Aeryn sighs. "I suppose the average little green man would actually be a Hynerian, in which case they might take offense to the word 'man'," she says.

Dean nodded though the name meant nothing to him of course. "What are you? If it's not rude to ask?"

"Sebacean," she answers. "No noticeable differences between my species and yours."

"So that would make you from... Seabas?"

Aeryn laughs a little at that. "No, actually. There's no specific Sebacean homeworld. We're born and bred on ships."

"So you're like nomads then?" Dean asked, thinking he could understand that. He figured if they were living in space, that would be the kind of life the Winchesters had.

"Something like that," she agrees. "There are colonies in different places, but for the most part we're military. We go where we're needed."

"Sounds a bit like my family," Dean noted. "No spaceships, but pretty much my Dad's Impala's home. And we're always travelling around. Like you said, going where we're needed."

"Needed for... all the run-ins with weirdness you've had?" she asks. "Or something else? If you don't mind me asking."

"Hey, if you can tell me you're an alien, I should be able to tell you my family hunts demons and spirits and shit." Dean grinned. "So yeah, pretty much. We track down weirdness and then we stop it."

"Good skills to have here," she says.

"Yeah, so it seems. I gotta tell you, this is not at all what I expected out of school. I thought I was going to be bored out of my skull."

"Oh, you will be," she assures him. "There come points between one drama and the other where you'll have no idea what to do with yourself."

"Now there's a cheerful thought," Dean observed. "Though, on the up side, if there's no drama, that usually means nothing is trying to kill you. That's always a plus."

She nods a concession to that. "True. Though it has been a while since I've had reason to shoot anything. It's cathartic."

"Tell me about it," Dean said, thinking Aeryn was a girl after his own heart. "I usually do at least some target shooting every other day or so. I was not happy to give up my guns when I got here."

"Did they just go into the weapons locker?" she asks. "We have a Gun Club here. There's even an arms dealer in town."

"Really?"

"It's called Blood Gulch Arms. It's run by Tex. Very large, in an armor suit. She's impossible to miss," she says. "I could show you sometime."

"I'd like that, thanks," Dean said with a genuine smile. "So how does one go about joining the gun club?"

"I think Parker and Marty co-run it," she says. "Radio said he was gone for a while, but Parker's around, as far as I know. You could try talking to one of them."
