Sunday Evening - Fifth Floor Common Room

Peter was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in front of him and a box of cookies from J. GOB.  He'd found some Coca-Cola (and still couldn't get over the fact it came in cans now) and was flipping through the channels on the TV.

Oooh, war movie.  That looked interesting.  The planes looked familiar too.  Peter sat forward in his seat as the title rolled.  Rescuing Corproral Smith?  Did they make movies about World War II now?

"Look, it's more 5th floor people. Entirely different 5th floor people than the 5th floor people who were in here five minutes ago when I last pinged in the other post before dinner." Xander said it almost like he was surprised to find 5th floor people ... on the 5th floor. Where they lived and he didn't.

"Xander!" Willow waved at him from her spot on the couch.

"Look, a Willow in her natural habitat." Xander grinned, and walked over to join her. "Whatcha reading?"

Willow promptly hid the college-level organic chemistry book by sitting on it. "Nothing. A book. I find books are usually best for reading. They come with words and everything."

Xander looked sideways at her. "Well, the hard ones do, yeah."

"Hard? What hard?" Willow shook her head. "No hard books here!"

Xander's sidelong look got a little more sidey. "As opposed to the ones with just pictures, and/or featuring Sneetches?"

Peter bowed to Xander as he came in. "Evening Xander. Come watch war movies and eat biscuits with us."

Xander grinned. "I'm gonna guess you mean the cookie kind, and also that Willow's already used up all the available British jokes, so I'll just go with saying yes, please. Biscuits good."

"Definitely the cookie kind. And neither 'limey' nor any cockney jokes yet. So you can continue without repeating any," Peter said grinning.

"Mostly we like the scone jokes back home - our resident citrus-flavored guy is a little too top-crusty to pull off cockney ones."

"Scones? Ick. Only good with lots of clotted cream and jam. Is your Limey a professor here?" Peter asks.

Xander debated whether he wanted to break his own brain or anybody else's by explaining the dimensions thing yet again.

"No, he's a librarian, sort of, back home. Among other things. But he's also here, running the bookshop in town. Trying to figure out how would only hurt your head as much as it does mine."

"Some of us are actually fourth floor people infiltrating," Dean said to the new guy. "Don't let on."

"Okay, is that actually a rule?" Willow asked. "Because Jamie kind of implied it and I don't want to get in trouble by hanging out in rooms I'm not supposed to be in. Though if that's the case they should really require a pass or mention it in the info packet they give you at sign in."

Xander frowned. "That is not actually a rule. In any way, shape, or form. I mean -- " He raised his hand. "First floor represent?"

Willow simply stared at him with the patience of one who knew very well that her BFF had just used the phrase "represent" in a sentence without referring to, as for example, a definition of symbolism.

"Don't worry too much about it," Dean told her. "If we get busted you can just say us other floor infiltrators dragged you here against your will."

"That's what Jamie suggested," Willow said. "Though he said he'd pretend to have threatened wee tiny bunnies and I say leave the bunnies alone, even if they are imaginary."

"I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you. Now wait, did you introduce yourself last time, or did we just get into an argument about whether I'm cute, and totally leave that part out?"

"Hmmm," Bridge says. "You know, I can't recall."

"Well, if you're planning on kissing me anytime tonight? You probably should. I'm not some cheap kiss whore like, say, Krycek. I need first names, at least."

Bridge laughs. "Well, I suppose I could introduce myself, then. First and last name, even. Bridge Carson."

"Hi, Bridge Carson. My first name is apparently Cuter, last name Xander." Xander tilts his head. "Unless my first name is The, and Cuter is my middle name."
