Sunday Evening - Fifth Floor Common Room

Peter was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in front of him and a box of cookies from J. GOB.  He'd found some Coca-Cola (and still couldn't get over the fact it came in cans now) and was flipping through the channels on the TV.

Oooh, war movie.  That looked interesting.  The planes looked familiar too.  Peter sat forward in his seat as the title rolled.  Rescuing Corproral Smith?  Did they make movies about World War II now?

"I'm from Michigan," Zack replied. "That depends, does your definition of fun involve zombies, demons and who knows how many other scientifically improbable things happening on a daily basis?"

"Um - " Willow chewed her lower lip thoughtfully. "I don't know if I'd call it fun as such..."

"Then there's the magic," Zack rubbed his forehead. "Leaving aside the fact that it isn't even supposed to exist, if it at least just followed the laws of thermodynamics."

"That could depend on the type of magic being done," Willow said. "Um. If somebody was going to do magic."

"There are different types?" Zack asked almost helplessly.

"Maybe?" Willow squeaked. "I - I don't know. Or couldn't say. Or couldn't say if I knew or could say."

Zack glacned suspicously at her. "I understood the words but that sentence did not make sense."

"I met somebody who said he was half-demon," Willow said in a single breath, hoping that might work for answering but not really answering.

"The same one who was in the common room last night?" There might have been a slight hint of pleading in Zack's tone.

"Maybe?" Willow said. She held a hand up to indicate height. "Tall? Dark? Loomy?"

"That sounds like him," Zack said. "Unless Marie was pointing to a different person than I thought."

"Marie's my roommate," Willow said. "Which I guess doesn't really help you much with magic or demons, but if we were playing the Fandom Kevin Bacon game we'd be scoring a few points."

"Congratulations on getting a sane roommate, apparently they're in short supply around here."

"Who's yours?" Willow asked.

"Macbeth, he felt it necessary to warn me about leprechauns with cereal. Then he informed me he used to room with DEATH."

Willow pfffted. "There's no such thing as leprechauns."

Zack raised an eyebrow. "Considering the rest of this place, what makes you so sure of that?"

"So, um, what other weird stuff have people told you about?" Willow asked.

Zack thought about it. "The field trips around here are dangerous to life and limb, 494 is apparently Dean Winchester's clone and Al blew up the common room."

"I've heard about gremlins and small bunnies," Willow said.

"Jamie mentioned the bunnies, I fail to see what's so scary about them though."

"I think he has size issues," Willow said.

Zack sometimes didn't quite get it. "No, he didn't diminish in mass when he doubled so I don't think it's that."

"I meant with the concept of small," Willow said. "I think it scares him."

"Why be afraid of a concept?" Zack asked. "If you're going to be afraid it's much more reasonable to be scared of something concrete."
