Main campfire, Saturday morning

Nadia leaned back against one of the logs around the main campfire site, though there was no campfire lit at the moment, because, hey, day time. She had her guitar in her lap and was working on the fingering for U2's "One" . . . and admiring the camp's newest flag on the flag pole: a lovely pair of linen legging style underpants. She wondered when Principal Washburn would find her presents.

And the radio hadn't reported a damned thing.

In celebration, she had a box of donuts from J,GoB, perfect for sharing with other underwear-flag admirers.

It was good to be a squirrel.

"Fairly good, I guess," he answered with a shrug. "Just another week gone by. You?"

"I've been enjoying myself. I wouldn't mind staying here for a while longer. How's Cuddles doing in the cabins?"

"For such a small thing, he really demands for a lot of room on the bed."

"You have to assert yourself." Walter picked Pup up off the ground and set him on his lap. "Otherwise they think they're in charge. Cats' whole language makes that pretty obvious."

"It's nothing too bad, I just end up waking up with him on my head often. And he's still small, I don't want to be harsh on him."

"I could talk to him about it, but he probably wouldn't listen for more than a night or two."

"Nah, I don't mind so much. I think he's just being the mischevious cat he normally is," Alphonse leaned back against a log and got comfortable. "So, you've got anything going on today, or just relaxing for the day?"

"I was just talking to Nadia about going exploring today. With this island, we should find something interesting. Hopefully not something interesting that will try to eat us."

"Ooh, exploring. That sounds like fun; there probably are a lot of places around here most people don't usually walk to."

"I'm sure there are. You might want to bring a camera if you have one. You never know what you might find." Walter would definitely be bringing his.

"Unfortunately I'm still cameraless, so no photo-taking for me. I really ought to fix that problem soon."

"You should. That way, when you go home, you'll be able to prove some of the insane stories you have to tell about this place."

Walter stood up and brushed off his trousers. "I'm going to go get ready. We're going to pack lunches, so it's off to the dining hall for me to see if there's anything available that's portable. I think sticking meckeroi und cheeze-a in my pocket would be a bad idea."

Alphonse chuckled. "You're very right about that. No one would believe me if I told them about pretty much everything that happens here." When Walter got up, he nodded, "Okay, that's a good idea. I'll see if I can gather anything up myself."
