Seahorse Campfire [Wednesday Evening]

It's been a good day.

He's been having a few of those lately and he's not one to ignore good days. He knows they can evaporate quickly and without warning.

So, he's enjoying the warm day outside. There's a cup of tea near his elbow and a smile on his face.

"Not that I'm aware of," he says, shaking his head. "Though, I didn't meet her and went to bed fairly early so, I suppose she might've given a makeover after that."

"If she did, I'm sure the truth will come out eventually," she says, joining him in the headshaking.

"You should've come by, Hermione." He grins at her. "You might've had fun."

"I don't think I would have exactly fit in there," she says, and her eyes are a little wide at the suggestion.

"Why not?" He frowns and takes a sip of his tea. "It's just like any cabin."

Diplomatically, she says, "I'm usually the one in the Gryffindor common room telling everyone to be quiet." She pauses. "Not that it works."

"And you don't want to experience new things while here?" Cedric asks. "I'm sure Jaye would've welcomed you with open arms."

"Um," she says. "No thank you."

Cedric frowns dramatically. "You don't want to visit my cabin, Hermione?"

"I never said that," she corrects. "Just maybe not in that setting." Still diplomatic.

Sensing...something, Cedric presses on. "What sort of setting? A crowded cabin?"

"I'm not very social," she tells him, and that's true.

"And you think I am?" All right, he is, but after saying that, he's interested in her answer.

"You've never seemed to have a problem with people," says Hermione matter-of-factly. "Look at how much attention you got when you were chosen for the Tournament. You're liked."

"And you're not?" Cedric frowns again. "You and Harry and Ron seemed pretty inseparable. And the other Weasley, what was her name? June?"

"Ginny," she corrects. "I'm not popular, but I have friends. I'm happy with that. It just doesn't make me good for party situations. I'm okay with that, too."

"You should come to one," he insists. "Even if it's not in my cabin. You can always talk to me, you know."

"Thanks," she says, kind of pleased by that. "Willow had a slumber party when we moved into the cabins. I went to that one. It's more my speed, I think."

"Please tell me you're not going to spend your whole term in the library."

[smartestone]

"I won't," she promises, neglecting to mention that she's been in there every day it's been open. She also doesn't mention the bookstore in town. "I've met several very nice people just by walking around."

"Really?" He smiles again. "Tell me who've you met and we can compare notes."

"Most recently I met Tyler and Anakin," she says. "Do you know them?"

"I believe I've met Tyler," Cedric says. "I've not yet met Anakin. He was there the other night though for your Jaye's party."

"He's very nice," she says, not asking if Anakin was shirtless at this party, too, because she doesn't want to know. The actual answer might scar her. "Mostly I've spoken with the other girls- and the boy- in my cabin."

"The boy?" Cedric quirks an eyebrow at her. "Really?"
