Buffy was beaming even more than usual when she skipped into the gym, still wearing her dress from yesterda's luau. Stupid invisible cabin. She frowned briefly, then dismissed the evil Stickbugs with a shrug. She could kill them later. Now it was time to cheer!

She pulled out mats, found the cd-player, put on 3 Small Words by Josie & the Pussycats, and began doing backflips while waiting for the other cheerleaders to show up.

ooc: I know the practice has been v. handwavily announced, so if your character can't make it for whatever reason -- like detention -- that's cool. Slow play like woah if needed.

"Thanks," she replied. "I've never done this before but it looks like it's going to be fun. Besides," Isabel grinned happily, "we have to cheer on the team." Or at least one specific player she thought. "I know it's a bit late to ask, but how are you settling into Fandom?"

"It'll definitely be fun," Marie promised with a grin. "And I'm settling in pretty well. I try not to think too hard about all the weird stuff and it's working pretty well for me so far."

"They don't have weird stuff where you come from?" Isabel asked.

"Nothing I ever knew about," Marie replied. "What about you?"

"Yes and no," Isabel replied. "I'm from Roswell, New Mexico. So everything was all about the crash and how aliens are supposed to be living among us. Most people don't believe it. But it really is true."

"It is?" Marie asked. "My parents always said it was just some government conspiracy to scare the citizens into doing what they wanted."

"If I didn't have personal knowledge? I'd say it was more of a conspiracy by the Roswell Chamber of Commerce to increase the amound to tourist money coming to town." Isabel shrugged, "But I was on the ship. So no conspiracy."

Marie blinked. "You were on the ship?" she repeated. "So you're... an alien?"

Isabel nodded, "I am. Although I've got a lot of human in me to." She shook her head and laughed lightly. "I'm still not used to saying that out loud. Back home it's all about keeping things secret."

"It doesn't seem like things like that are a big deal around here," Marie said with a small smile.

"It's not. Which is nice. I like it here," Isabel admitted. "It's weird to go home. You mention vanishing cabins, or mutants or vampires and people think you're weird. So where are you from? Somewhere in the South right?"

"Mississippi," Marie confirmed with a grin. "And I like it here, too. I'm hoping to stay in the fall for school. My letters home have been very sparse on the details."

"I can relate. My folks still don't know my old roommate's first name. Because telling them that would mean admitting I roomed with a guy for a semester," Isabel laughed. "My father would turn purple."

Marie giggled. "Who was your roommate?"

"Xander Harris. He's one of the counselors now that he's graduated. He really was a great roommate," Isabel said fondly.

"Oh, he is really nice," Marie agreed. "I've met him and Bridge."

"They're both great. I was dateless for prom so they had dinner with me beforehand so I wouldn't feel left out," she explained. "It was really nice of them."

"Aw, that was sweet," Marie agreed.

"Extremely," she grinned. "Granted it was just burgers in our room. But it was the thought that mattered. Do you have roommate?"

Marie nodded. "Do you know Willow Rosenberg? She's my roommate. She's great."

Isabel nodded, "She's a good friend of Xander's or at least she's a good friend of a Xander in another dimension. I did get to meet this Willow once when we were still back in the dorms."

"Oh yeah," Marie remembered. "That whole multiple dimension thing freaks me out, so I try not to think about it too much. Willow's a lot of fun though. I'm really glad she ended up being my roommate."

"I can handle the multiple dimensions reasonably okay. But when people start talking about shifting time to come here? Then my brain breaks," she laughed. "Having a good roommate really does make things more fun. I'm rooming alone this semester. It's going to be odd."
