Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday Evening

After shimmering his and Phoebe's belongings -- and the kittens as well -- back to the dorms, Bel wandered down to the fifth floor common room. He sprawled on the couch and turned on the TV, flipping through the channels until he landed on "The Raven 4: Evil Benediction." The movie was making him nostalgic for Angelus for some reason. While it was good to be "home" and have privacy again, the attic was decidedly unsocial and he couldn't wait until he and Phoebe could move to one of the lower floors.

"Because you said it when you walked in," Marie said.

"Oh yeah." Conner shook his head. "Right. I forgot about that. Say, you haven't seen anything moving around on its own in here, have you?"

"No, can't say that I have," Marie told him. "How've you been? I haven't seen you around much lately."

"Been okay, I guess," he answered. "Except for the possible missing teacher thing. I was sort of hiding. Me and insect bites don't get along too well. How 'bout you?"

"I'm on the cheerleading squad," Marie replied with a grin.

"Hey, that's cool! Congra --" Conner paused. "We have a cheerleading squad? We have a team?"

Marie nodded. "A basketball team," she explained. "It's new. So's the cheerleading squad."

"Apparently." Conner grinned. "Huh, didn't know about the basketball team. Not my sport anyhow. Still, congrats!"

"Thanks," Marie grinned. "Buffy made me a co-captain and everything. It should be a lot of fun."

"Co-captain?" Conner wasn't sure whether to give her a high five or not, so he made an odd, abrupt gesture that ended up with him running his fingers through his hair and then giving her a thumbs-up. "Wow, that's awesome. Guess I'll have to watch the game, huh?"

"You totally should," Marie said with a firm nod. "And who knows, maybe you can get a soccer team going in the fall and we can cheer for you guys too!"

"That would rock," Conner said, bouncing up and down on his toes. "I have no idea if we could get enough people together to play a game, but if we could that would so rock."

"You won't know unless you try," Marie pointed out. "Maybe some of the people on the basketball team would try it."

"Yeah, but eleven people per team . . . that's a lot of players," mused Conner. "That's like twice as many people as they need for two basketball teams."

More, actually. But math wasn't his strong point.

Marie didn't really know that much about basketball, so she didn't realize Conner's math was off.

"There's a lot of people here," she said. "And a lot of them seem to spend a lot of time in the gym. So don't give up hope."
