3rd Floor Common Room, 6/6, Late Tuesday Afternoon

Tempe entered the common room, bag of groceries in hand. She set them down on the counter, and went to flick on the TV.

Nothing really interesting was on, so she turned it to the music channel. She'd never heard of any of the artists who were being played, but she figured it would be good background noise.

Going back to her groceries, she unpacked the bags, and got out a mixing bowl and spoon from the cupboard.

She set to work making cookies. Lots of cookies. Of all kinds.

"Nah, I missed out on that. Seemed a bit juvenile though. Exploding cheesecakes, underwear up the flagpole, and the like," Tempe replied. "Not that I didn't laugh about it at the time."

"Yeah, I heard good things about that coffee. Something about chocolate fish."

Tempe blushed, and smiled shyly. "Thanks. It looks okay now, but back when it happened, I was covered head to toe in glitter. Everywhere I went, I ended up leaving a fine dusting of glitter."

"Laughing was all we hoped for in the midst of our juvenalia," Peter replied with a grin. He bowed slightly. "Cabin Stickbug at your service."

"That must have been a fun few days. Though I suppose if you'd gotten lost in the woods, you wouldn't need breadcrumbs to find your way home."

"Ah! So you're a Stickbug. I'll keep that in mind," Tempe said grinning.

"Oh yes, very fun. I don't think the people I hung around with appreciated it too much," Tempe said, thinking of Sawyer's now permanently glittered sheets.

Peter laughed. "Don't worry, Lady. We don't prank the unsuspecting."

"It would depend on the person, I suppose," Peter said. "And last week was warm enough that swimming could have occurred if the glitter was an issue."

Tempe smiled shyly at that. "I appreciate that. It's good to know that there are still some decent people around."

"That's true," Tempe said. "I really wish I'd thought of that last week. I'll have to remember that if it becomes an issue again."

"More than a few here, I've found," Peter said seriously. "Most here treat their duty with respect."

"If a glitter monster attacks you, come find me, and I'll remind you," Peter said, grinning now. "Though I can't swear on my honour that I won't laugh first."

"True," Tempe replied. "But some obliterate that respect like a man-eating bear on a sugar-high." It was possible she'd eaten too many cookies.

"You get free rein to laugh if it happens again," Tempe replied. "But I think next time I'll wear a hazmat suit. Because, inside a container, glitter is certainly a hazardous material."

"Your analogy power is strong," Peter commented as he tried not to laugh. He grew more serious as he asked, "has someone been rude to you or insulted you in any way?"

"Hazmat suit? I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the term."

Tempe looked at Peter quite seriously, and said, "Yes, actually. It was on the first day of school, too. I'm told it wasn't the type of thing that usually happens here, and not to judge everyone by that one example, but it wasn't a very nice welcome."

Sure, she'd tried to forget about Bel's rudeness, but it still cut deep.

"It's a suit that one wears when handling hazardous materials, such as unidentified chemicals, and highly infectious micro-organisms."
