Dorm Roof, Wednesday afternoon

After his Karate workshop, Pip found himself with a burning need for a cigarette. And since he had promised Molly that he wouldn't smoke in the common room any longer, here he was, out on the roof in his exercise clothes, smoking said cigarette.

Paige walking up the stairs to the roof, she figured it would give her best view of the town she'd be leaving, plus she could use the quiet, there were too many students in the dorms all being happy and she really didn't need that right now.

As she stepped outside she saw Pip and wandered over it him, "hey," she said quietly "mind if I join you?"

"'Course not," Pip said, tapping the ashes of his cigarette into his new ashtray. "Do you mind me smoking?"

She shook her head, "no it's fine, I got used to it when I was going out with James so it doesn't bother me, plus you were here first." she assured him before looking out into the town.

"I'm leaving" she almost whispered, she didn't know why she was so upset really, it wasn't like she'd had the best of times here, but she had made some pretty good friends.

Pip glanced towards her. "Beg pardon?"

She turned to look at him, "I said I'm leaving, I got a letter this morning from my Grams." she explained.

Pip frowned. "She want you back home?"

"She seems to think it'll be for the best you know cos of what I am, I guess she thinks I should learn everything before, well before it all starts. I guess it makes sense, I just...I don't want to leave. I like it here." She said sadly.

Pip's frown turned into a grimace and he turned to Paige. "We like you here too, Paige."

She smiled slightly when he said that and moved a little closer, "thanks Pip, that's nice of you to say and thanks you know for all the training shame you couldn't teach me all the magic stuff too."

She closed her eyes for a moment to stop herself from crying, "I'll miss you."

Pip smiled a little sadly. "I'll miss you too. C'mere," he said, pulling her into a hug.

She hugged him tightly trying, unsuccessfully, not to cry. "Well this sucks," she said against his shoulder, "I'm not even sure when I'm going yet."

Pip squeezed her a little. "The letter just came?"

"Yeah, this morning," she replied, glad for the hug, "it didn't say when she wanted me back though, it just said soon. Least I have chance to say goodbye right?"

Walter came up onto the roof looking for Nadia. There was a Pip, but still no Nadia.

"Hey."

Pip nodded to Walter. "Yo."

"Have you seen Nadia today?" Walter asked, sitting down on the edge of the roof and lighting a cigarette.

Pip tilted his head to the side slightly in thought. "Er... noooo. Not that I can think of."

Walter took a drag off his cigarette and frowned. "I hope she didn't remember."

Pip took a drag on his own cigarette. "Didn't remember what?"

"I'm not sure, but I think we had a fight on Monday." He kicked his feet and looked down at the ground below. "My journal says we were all under a truth spell, and I think I had a fight with her and with Seras. Strike that, I heard my voicemail - I'm sure I had a fight with Seras."

"Yikes," Pip said. "The truth will set you free. And make you get into big screaming rows." He tilted his head to the side slightly. "So... if we told the truth and don't remember it... is there anything about me in there? I don't remember saying anything particularly truthful."

"No, but I keep my journal rather differently since Adella and the other one got their hands on it. It's mostly just words or phrases that are supposed to help me remember on my own." He shrugged and flicked an ash off his cigarette. "Except that doesn't help me when I don't have a memory to go with some of the things I wrote."

Pip nodded. "Get into a fight with anyone else that you don't remember?"

Walter had been thinking about that and nodded. "Yes. Yesterday I felt as though Nadia and Seras should be mad at me for something, but all day I felt quite annoyed with Alphonse."

Pip nodded. "Must be weird, having anger for someone but having no particular reason why."
