[Second Floor CR, Saturday Evening, AFTER-GAME PARTY]

After the game, the second floor common room could be found bedecked with gold and blue streamers and a banner hanging on one wall that said "GO GREMLINS" in large letters.

There were also set up tables with food and drink so handwavily set up by the cheerleaders and a stereo playing the cheerleaders' practice music mix at an acceptable volume.

It was a victory party! No matter who won.

"It's a little bit like basketball and a little bit like American football," Anders explained, wondering why he didn't still carry around the court diagram he'd drawn months ago. "No dribbling, but you can tackle people. That's fun."

"Do people get hurt?" Willow asked, looking worried. "I don't know if I want Peter playing big hurty games."

Yes, she knew he was a knight. She didn't care.

Anders flinched.

"Yeah," he said. "Sometimes people get hurt."

"He can sit on the sidelines then," Willow decided on Peter's behalf.

"Maybe," Anders conceded. "Not that you can't get hurt playing basketball or anything else, though."

"I know," Willow admitted. "I guess I'm just overprotective girl. I can't help it. I don't like losing people."

"Yeah, I get that," Anders said, then frowned. "Not that I've ever really . . . I mean. I'm sorry to hear that."

"It's okay," Willow said. "It's getting better. Coming here has been amazing. I've met so many nice people. Including you, of course."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Anders grinned. "Glad I get included there, and glad it's working out for you here."

"Of course you are," Willow said. "You're my cooking study buddy."

"I can deal with that. I need all the help I can get. How else would I have known I'd have to get the jump on mocking cookies, anyway?"

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

Willow grinned. "They're wily, but I think we showed 'em. More than the crepes anyway. Those still scare me."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, Lords. We will never speak of the crepes again," Anders said. "You don't think they're going to pop up again at the final, do you?"

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
"The only thing I want popping on the final is toast," Willow said. "Oh! Or microwave timers."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Microwave popcorn?" Anders suggested. "That stuff's not as easy as it looks."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Willow nodded. "You can burn the bag."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
"And then you get the kernels in the bottom of the bag that don't pop, but are extra toasty and kind of gross," added Anders.

"I have panic about listening to know when it's done," Willow said. "They say slower but how do I know? Maybe I'm expecting too much of the kernals. Maybe they can keep popping and be fine but I'm not letting them fulfill their popcorn destiny."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I never thought about popcorn as having a destiny." Anders frowned. "Maybe I should listen to it more closely."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know that that would work," Willow said. "What if it screams? You'd feel guilty for eating it."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
"And I really don't want popcorn guilt. That would make movie-watching so much less fun for the rest of my life."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly," Willow said. "Best to assume that everyone's happy about it."

Re: Talk/Chatter/Mingle

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
"I can totally go with that assumption," Anders agreed. "The popcorn's happy, we're happy, everything's good."

[OOC: Eek, crashing now. Why are you still up?!?]

"Much like the game where ultimately the Gremlins win," Willow said.
