Gym, before workshops

Cameron had heard the radio, but he wasn't sure what to think of it all. At least he knew that Veronica hadn't gone to confront Tyler on her own. Still, he was completely focussed on hitting the bag.

"I know," Veronica said. "And I think the padding would get in my way. Plus, out in the real world I won't have it."

She took a deep breath and tried again. She didn't tense up quite as much this time and she remembered everything else.

"That looked better," he remarked, but it was the question if it had felt better for her.

Veronica stood up and stretched a little. "That felt a little better. But I don't think I was quite loose enough. It's hard to overcome that natural instinct to tense up when you fall."

"It is," Cameron agreed. "Would it be easier if I make you fall?"

"I don't know?" Veronica replied. "We could try it though."

"Just as long as Archie doesn't come over afterwards to kick my ass," he said with a grin and waited for a moment before oushing her back.

Veronica was chuckling and starting to say that she would make sure Archie didn't do anything, therefore the push caught her off guard. She almost tensed up, but then remembered she wasn't supposed to.

She managed to hit the ground without hurting herself.

"Better?" he asked as he held out his hand. For some reason he kept feeling guilty and wanting to apologise.

She took his hand and allowed him to help her up.

"Actually, yeah," she said. "I didn't really have time to think about it because I wasn't expecting it."

"Good." Deciding to test that whole unexpected theory he made a swipe at her legs.

Falling that way was so very different from falling the way she'd been practicing, so Veronica had a hard time figuring out how to apply the same principles. She tried, but she still managed to land kind of hard on her backside.

"Ow," she said. "Okay, so falling backwards is a lot different than falling forwards."

"It is and I seem to go down like that more often than not," Cameron said and held her to her feet again. "You okay?"

"I think so," she said. "So how do I do that without hurting myself? If I fall that way a couple more times, I'm not going to be able to sit."

"Not landing on your ass will help," Cameron joked before moving back to show her the finest tricks of landing on your back.

"You make it look so easy," Veronica said with a little frown. "And isn't it better to land on my backside, which has a little more cushion, than on my spine?"

Cameron tilted his head and the remark was out too fast. "It doesn't have that much more cushion," he paused and blinked. "Okay, that was bad. But yeah, if you manage to avoid landing on your tailbone, it's the safest option."

Veronica just gave him a look and rolled her eyes.

"Okay, so avoid the tailbone," she repeated.

"Yep, because that hurts like a... It hurts a lot," he said, watching his language. He waited for another moment before tripping her up again.

She was sort of expecting it this time and she kept repeating in her head to avoid the tailbone. The landing this time didn't hurt nearly as bad.

"Heaps better," Cameron said approvingly as he helped her back to her feet. "So how are things beside the whole successfully hunting down people's dark pasts?"

"Pretty good," Veronica said with a grin. "How about you? Things going well with Molly?"

Cameron smiled, for a moment forgetting about the making Veronica fall thing. "Yeah, they're good. Slow, but good."

"I'm glad to hear it," Veronica said. "And there's nothing wrong with slow."

"No, there isn't. She even told me a story involving a banana tree." His dorky smile was still in place as he remembered he was supposed to be pushing Veronica to the ground and did just that.

"Aw, that's really..." and Veronica was hitting the ground again. And somehow she managed to remember not to land on her tailbone or tense up.

"... sweet," she said after hitting the ground.
