After a handwavey walk into town for supplies, Dawn set out a bunch of sandwich fixings, pretzels, chips of various descriptions, cookies, fruit, lemonade, iced tea, and soda.

A small handwritten sign told people to help themselves, so she didn't have to keep repeating herself.

As for Dawn, she sat down with a book to enjoy her hummus with cheese, sprouts, carrots and sweet pickles. Occasionally she sipped from her lemonade.

"I'm a fifteen year old boy. Of course I have bikinis on the brain." Dean grinned. "Sounds like fun. You going to be playing?"

"Dunno. I'm kind of a klutz with team stuff."

"Y'know, I keep hearing about what a klutz you are, but so far I haven't seen any proof of it."

"I could dump iced tea on you if it would make you feel better," she offered with a grin.

"If you did it on purpose all it proves is that you're evil with good aim," Dean pointed out.

"Hmmm. I can't accidentally shoot you with an arrow, because Miho would hand me my own butt," she said, not sure she was exaggerating. "Maybe you can just trust that I'm a klutz, and when something klutzy happens, you can nod knowingly?"

"If you ever do anything klutzy I promise I will nod knowingly. Until then I'm going to give your reflexes the benefit of the doubt."

"Awwww. My reflexes would thank you if they could talk and weren't, y'know, reflexes."

"They can just twitch in my general direction," Dean said magnominously.

She smiled at him. "They could."

"Actually you can twitch anything in my direction that you want any time."

She burst out laughing. "That was very smooth."

Dean grinned and gave a little mock bow. "We do our best."

"We? Are you royal now?" She teased, "because if you're gonna be the heir to anything other than a bunch of demon hunting equipment, that's kind of news to me."

"Not that Dad's mentioned, no. If we're long lost royalty, he's keeping that to himself." He added a bit more seriously and resolutely casual, "Sammy and I got ahold of him on Sunday."

"Yeah, Sam mentioned it," Dawn said, tilting her head and not explaining exactly how much detail Sam had gone into, "Did everything go okay? And Sam said something about him maybe coming for a visit?"

"Yeah," Dean said, visibly brightening at the thought. "He said he'll come as soon as he gets finished with the hunt he's on."

"What's he, er, hunting?" Dawn asked, trying not to be obvious about figuring out how long she had before she had to come up with a good excuse to leave town. Not that she was nervous about meeting Mr. Winchester, or anything.

Dean shrugged. "Some kind of demon, I think, he never said on the phone and he was kinda vague about it when he dropped us off."

"Did he say how long it was going to take? And how can he hunt a demon when he doesn't know what it is?" Dawn glared, arms folded across her chest.

"He said he thought he'd be done in a month at the longest," Dean said, looking at Dawn warily, not understanding why she suddenly seemed pissed off. "And he didn't know exactly what he was dealing with when he dropped us off because he hadn't got there to look into it yet. I'm sure he does now; we just didn't talk about that Sunday."

"Okay," Dawn forced herself to calm down. "Sorry. I just worry that you're going to go off and fight demons and be at a disadvantage because you don't know what you're up against."

"Dad would never have us go up against anything blind if he could help it," Dean reassured her.

"Right." She forced a smile, but the truth was, as much as she trusted Dean and Sam, she didn't trust their father. "Just me being silly. Forget it."

"Dad's a great man," Dean said, sensing Dawn's ambivalance and trying to reassure her. "Sammy and I told him about you and Buffy -- he really wants to meet you."
