Third floor commoon room, Thursday night

Peter felt the need to actually get out of his room and be around people, so he marched himself down the hall to the common room. He turned the television to something random. It turned out to be something about people dancing. It was strangely hypnotic and he couldn't quite bring himself to turn it off.

He also couldn't quite explain why he made popcorn during the first commercial break.

[OOC: There's enough popcorn and kinda stupid television for all.]

"Maybe you'll be able to save England from that path," Tyler said, attempting to cheer Peter up. "Now that you've seen where it leads. You could work to ban TV in the fifties, or something."

Peter laughed. "I did rather sound like an old grandfather. Perhaps I shall if I'm there then."

"Or you could just watch culture disintegrate until it produces this," Tyler nodded, jutting his chin at the screen. "Then you really will be an old grandfather, probably."

"And I'll tell of the good old days during the Blitz and how rationing strengthened the national character," Peter said, making a face. "Be funny if I were an old man over in England right now. I'm not, but it would be funny."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Tyler gave Peter an odd look. "Yeah. Funny. How are you sure you aren't doing that?"

[OC: Going to bed, will pick up in the a.m.]

"Because Su said I wasn't in England when she left it," Peter said. "So I couldn't be in this England then either."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It occured to Tyler that Peter could have theoretically come back to England in the 40 years between Su's time and the present, but Peter seemed certain that had not happened.

"That must be strange," he said instead. "Knowing what's going to happen to you. It would freak me out."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"It does," he admitted. "But I just the outlines. And maybe I can change it."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"If you're already from an alternate universe from your sister -- and you didn't come here in her timeline, right? -- maybe you can," Tyler said. "You should be able to, anyhow. Unless everything is just destiny."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, she doesn't remember me coming here. But the alternate universe thing doesn't seem quite right," Peter said, struggling to put his feelings about it into words. Aslan knew the Deeper Magic. And since he did, how could he allow alternate universes? Wasn't there one truth at the end? "And with all the children of prophecy around here, how can we completely discount destiny?" Peter looked to change the subject. "How've you been?"

Hmm, maybe that wasn't the most tactful change.

Tyler's eyebrows twitched. He could tell whatever Peter had heard about hiw own future, it wasn't something he wanted to dwell on.

"Okay," he said, going with the topic change. "People here are being really cool with -- everything. And I got to blow up a chair yesterday, which was awesome until the Troopers came."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Everyone here seems to be - a chair?" Peter said as his brain caught up with Tyler's statement. "A metaphorical chair?" he asked with some amusement.

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"An actual chair," Tyler clarified, looking a little abashed. "Overstuffed, flowered cushions. Someone asked me if I would so I did."

"The Troopers came after us."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"I should imagine. Some poor grandma probably wanted her chair back," Peter said, still a bit amusd at the picture. "Who asked you to blow up a chair?"

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was in the junkyard," Tyler explained.

"River?" He made her name a question.

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter couldn't really decide if he was amused or disturbed. He chose amusement for the time being. "You have an odd sense of how to impress a girl," he said. "Did she enjoy it?"

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Tyler smirked. "She kissed me. And we're having pizza tomorrow. I'm just not sure how I can follow up."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"I hear girls like a nice bouquet of hand grenades this time of year," Peter replied with a smirk of his own. "Failing that, the beach is really pretty if non-explody. Which is a good thing really."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"River would probably appreciate that," Tyler said thoughtfully. "But I'm kind of trying to outgrow the 'blowing things up and getting chased by troopers' thing."

"Beach, huh? Have you and Willow been?"

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"That seems like a good thing to leave behind as you age," Peter said with a nod. "We were there last Friday. She got to laugh at me failing to learn how to use chopsticks and then there was the ocean. It was nice."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"I like the ocean," Tyler agreed. "I grew up near the shore, but that's different."

He stood. "Looks like they're done dancing, and I should get to bed. See you tomorrow, Peter."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter wasn't entirely sure how the ocean differed from the shore, but he nodded. "If you say so, I suppose."

He gave a half-bow. "Good night, Tyler. Sleep well."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Tyler thought over what he said. "I said shore, didn't I? Bay would be the word I wanted. Which is proof I should sleep. G'night."
