5th Floor Common Room - Starting at 11am FHT Sunday

Peter had his St. George's cross flag close by as he waited impatiently for the match to begin.  England vs. Ecuador with continued participation in the World Cup at stake.

He had run down to J, GOB ostensibly to get some pastries to share for breakfast but really because he couldn't sit still any longer so there was a selection of muffins and doughnuts on one of the tables.

Now for the football to start...

[OOC:  Open to all!  Come cheer for England!  Or Ecuador if you must]

"I don't think it would kill them," Willow said, primly. "They never call, they never write. Plus England has the accents."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"So, our impeccable accents and good manners put us head and shoulders above the American team," Walter said sympathetically. "I'm pleased you see these things."

"It does seem to be a trend with you Britishy types," Willow said, grinning a little as she looked in Peter's direction. "Even Spike was polite in his own Spikey way."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter cocked his head. "Spike? Is he a student here? I don't believe I've met him."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"He's from back home," Willow said. "Vampire. Sure he's kind of crude and there's the whole soulless evil wants to kill us aspect, but he does still respect a proper cup of tea."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Soulless, you say? He must not be a proper vampire, but at least he has enough sense to respect the tea."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Most vampires are soulless where I come from," Willow said. "Except Angel."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"I keep hearing about Angel's soul," Walter said, shaking his head. "Vampires have souls where I'm from, they're just damned souls."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"I guess that makes sense," Willow said. "Though sad for them. Then again they're the ones killing us for food so I guess karma's got to come in somewhere."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"It does raise a lot of questions. If a true vampire has a choice, and all that."

He shook his head and looked back at the television. "Better questions to ask when England isn't winning a football game."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Willow looked worried. "Oh no. Are we losing now?"

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, no! We aren't losing," Walter said, shaking his head. "But why dwell on things neither of us can change when we can watch a good football match."

Even if England's play wasn't exactly inspired.

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh good," Willow said, looking relieved. Then, trying to sound like she knew what she was talking about, she said, "I see that cross guard's really coming in handy."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"The heat's slowing us down," Walter noted. "We don't get this sort of heat at home. It was a problem when we faced Paraguay, too."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Would it help if it rained?" Willow asked. "It could make it seem more like home."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"It might. But they're professionals. It's just going to make our win that much better, since the Ecuadorans can't say they aren't used to the heat."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ahh, true," Willow said. "Then they can be all smug and tell Ecuador that England could win with one hand tied behind its back!"

Willow frowned. "Though I guess that's not as impressive a statement in soccer."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, we can tell them we won with heat stroke." Walter jumped out of his seat to cheer as Beckham scored.

Then grimaced as Beckham was promptly ill afterward. "See?"

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay I'm glad you said something," Willow said. "'cause I was thinking that was a really unusual play."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter groped for a bright side. "It just goes to show how dedicated we Brits are, yes?"

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Very true," Willow said. "They take a licking and keep on ticking!"
