Third Floor Common Room - Sunday Morning

After dealing with monsters and ghosts the night before, Sam had almost forgotten about his promise to Dean to help him with brunch in the morning. They'd made a run into town for more eggs, and some bacon, and Dean was busy fixing the real food while Sam made toast. It was a much safer operation that way, really.

Dean looked up from where he was cooking the bacon and watched his brother butter toast with amusement. "Don't set the toaster on fire this time," he teased.

"Just because I set a toaster on fire once, it doesn't mean it's going to happen again," Sam shot back. "And that wasn't even my fault. It was a really bad toaster."

"Or so you kept saying." Dean chuckled. "You told Dad it was possessed."

Dawn came into the room, drawn by the smell of cooking food and yawning, still in her pajamas--loose cotton shorts and a t-shirt. "You guys should have woken me. I would have helped."

"It was! There was something evil inside that toaster, I swear."

"There was after you got finished with it -- the charred remains of the last of our bread."

Jaye had been on her way downstairs to leave and throw eggs at the theater that never opens anymore, or something, but stops off at the third floor. "I love when people cook."

Buffy followed the smell of food from D's room, still dressed in her pjs from last night. "Hey boys and Dawn. Food?" she inquired before flopping down in a chair and resting her head in her hands.

"It's okay, we've got everything taken care of," Sam replied. "And you looked pretty peaceful while you were sleeping, so we didn't want to wake you."

"We've got it," Dean told her, flashing a smile. "Not the first time we've done this. Though granted, usually we've just been cooking for ourselves.

Peter walked into the common room and tried not to crack up when he saw Sam. "Hey, food. This is officially a good morning."

"It does seem to be one of the quickest ways to popularity around here," Dean said. He nodded toward where the food already cooked was sitting. "Help yourself."

"Awww," Dawn said, "that's sweet. And I'm sure it's not at all because you guys are afraid of the food combinations I'd put together."

"So, whatcha making that smells so yummy?"

Buffy yawned at Jaye, then brightened. "Oh, wait a minute!"

She ran off and was back a couple of minutes later with a rolled up poster in her hand. She presented it to Jaye with a huge grin. "Tada!"

Sam grumbled lightly. "I still think Dad should have let me take holy water to it."

"Rough night?" Dean asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Morning, Buffy," Dawn said, then, without explaining, went over and hugged her.

"Well, it smells great," Dawn nodded, then went to see if she could grab a slice of toast.

"Thanks," she says, going to get some. "How's it going, newly popular boy?"

"No, not really." Buffy yawned, placing her hand over her mouth. "I fell asleep before they brought out the booze." She grinned. "I looked into the other room before coming down and they looked really cozy, all curled up like kittens."

Jaye blinks, then knows exactly what it is, and replies with "EEEEEEEEEE I love my BFF!"

"Afraid of your food combinations? No, not at all," Sam teased. "Let me just say that whatever you put on your own plate is your business. We've got eggs, and bacon, and toast. There might be more food elsewhere in the kitchen though, if that's not what you want."

Buffy hugged her back, confused. "Uh, hi Dawn. How're you doing?"
