Second Floor Common Room [Thursday Morning]

Bridge was bored. So he'd dragged the telekinesis ball out of his room, since he hadn't practiced in a while, and sat down crosslegged on a couch in the common room to do so.

After a few minutes, he had the ball floating in a lazy circuit around the room.

"Malfoy," she greets him back, coolly. She's still trying to knit when she says it, which may be a mistake, because now she's missed a stitch.

"Knitting clothes for Weasley? How sweet." says Draco, trying to hide his grin.

Hermione glares. "If you must know, they're for the house elves," she says. She does not say that she's not good enough yet to knit anything for Ron, but maybe someday.

"Ah right, you still going on about that spew thing I see." says Draco "Unfortunately there are none here for you to save. But I'm sure the gremlins would appreciate a nice scarf."

"It's S.P.E.W., and there are still plenty there just waiting to be freed," Hermione counters. "Not that you would care."

"You're right, I don't." says Draco "But I do wish there were some elves here. I'm getting tired of doing my own laundry."

"Heaven forbid you should ever have to do something for yourself," she says, shaking her head. "A little bit of work won't kill you." If she was Ron or Harry, there would be an unfortunately added on there.

"I can do plenty of things for myself. I just don't like to." says Draco "That's what house elves and muggle slaves are for."

He was joking about the muggle slaves part. He just liked seeing Granger angry.

"For someone who told me about how far he's come from when I knew him, you certainly haven't changed much," Hermione snaps.

"Oh lighten up Granger. You know I don't keep muggle slaves. It's way too much of a hassle." says Draco "At least house elves like to do their work. Something that you fail to realize."

"Only because it's all anyone has ever let them do," she says. "No one seems to care about being fair to them as long as their work gets done for them."

"Yes, Granger I'm sure all the house elves want is freedom. Look at that Dobby. Now that he's free I'm sure he's traveling the world, drinking fine wine and meeting beautiful she-elves." says Draco with a smirk. "Oh wait I believe I saw him working in the kitchens at Hogwarts just last year."

"But you keep on trucking with that spew thing, Queen of the Elves."

"It's S.P.E.W.," she repeats. "And I think I will, since there's already been interest in it here."
