Second Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

Conner bolted back upstairs after basketball practice and got ready for the World Cup final. As a result of his conversation with Nadia from Friday, he was dressed -- if one could call it that -- for the occasion in what was essentially an Italian-flag loincloth, and red, green, and white body paint.

Nobody was in the second floor common room, so he hijacked it for the cool TV and got comfortable (standing, because body paint) before the game started.

France vs. Italy. Plus, Julie Foudy at halftime. Last night might have been a fiasco, but today life was good.

Up went the eyebrow. "Walter? Went shirtless? How'd you manage that? I don't think I've met a Conner, though . . ."

"I wore England's colors for their game and promised to go shirtless, too."

"Ah. Reciprocal nudity, of course. Did things ever work out between the two of you?"

Nadia nodded. "We've been dating since a little while after the semester ended."

Ivanova's smile was genuinely pleased for them. "That's great. Well, not for me, but definitely for you. Where is Walter, anyways? I haven't seen him."

"He's . . . home. For a little while."

That tone was suspiciously neutral. "Ah. I see." By which she meant, I don't see but I'm not going to pry.

"Just for a week, maybe a little more."

"Well, I can't wait to see him once he's back," she said cheerfully. "Right now I'm wondering if it's possible to see everyone on the island in the space of an hour. I'm impatient like that."

"Well, you'd better get started, then." Nadia was more than happy to support a change of subject. "That's a lot of people to go see."

"Even more than when I left, apparently."

"We got a bunch of new students. Most of them are pretty cool. My roommate Jamie is kind of crazy, though."

"Crazy by Fandom standards? That'll be a sight to see."

"GOB nicknamed him 'Pee-Cup'. And he sometimes talks through a sock puppet."

Ivanova laughed. "Alright, crazy by Fandom standards."

"Yeah. It makes the living arrangements very interesting. But at least we'll be going to the cabins, tonight, so I won't have to deal with him for a little bit."

"Oh right, the cabins," Ivanova said, suddenly remembering. "That'll be interesting."

"It certainly was last time. Watch out for the Stinkbug cabin."

"Stinkbug?"

"Cabin full of guys. John Crichton, Cameron, I think Peter Parker? And a bunch of the new guys. They declared a prank war on one of the other cabins."

Ivanova laughed. "What happened?"

"It involved singing. And stolen boxers, and changing hair colors, and exploding cheesecake, and then everyone got detention."

"Singing, stolen boxers . . . why didn't I just stay in Fandom after graduation?" Ivanova dropped her head back against the couch with a regretful groan.

"Well, I'm sure they'll do something else interesting, this time."

"I hope so, because I can apparently give out detention now. And I just love abusing power."
