Flamingo campfire, Monday evening

Ivanova hadn't really unpacked, so moving into the cabin hadn't been much of a stretch. An early night had meant that her body had gotten the sleep it needed to kick back onto Fandom time. Now, she had found an Adirondak chair somewhere, got a little crackling fire going, and kicked back to enjoy. Fresh air, open sky . . .

It was good to be home.

Ivanova's answering smile was just as bright. "Hey, you." She held out a hand, imperiously commanding her to come closer. "Come here."

Maia smiled and came over to her, her fingers slipping into Ivanova's. "Are you getting all settled in?" She said smiling as she leaned over to brush a hello kiss to Ivaonva's cheek.

"Pretty much," she grinned up at her. "My first time in a cabin like this, you know. I don't quite know if it's what I expected." Her grip tightened on Maia's fingers and tugged her towards her lap.

Maia smiled and sat down into Ivanova's lap, her fingers staying wrapped with Susan's. "Oh they are loads of fun." She said with a laugh, her other hand slipped up around Ivanova's neck. "Just wait until everyone starts to snore at once." She shook her head with another laugh. "When do you teach your first class?" Maia couldn't take her eyes off Susan, she couldn't express how happy she was to have her back after losing her so quickly at the end of the school year.

"Thursday," Ivanova replied, relaxing back into the hand. "I'm enjoying my vacation for a while, although I'm going to be unbearable Wednesday night. Just a warning."

"Unbearable compared to what?" Maia said with a light laugh. "I've seen you in a horrid temper." Maia whispered against her ear before lifting her head and grinning again. "But I will take it under consideration to be oh so very sweet to you that night."

"When have I ever been in a horrible temper around you?" Ivanova protested. "I take offense at that!" As if she could take offense at anything with Maia sitting like that.

Maia looked thoughtfully and then giggled "Well ok not horrid then." She said with a satisfied smile. "Everyone is glad to have you back." She said in a low whisper near Susan's ear as she took in the gathering group of people who were sitting around them.

That actually made her blush. "I'm surpried. I didn't think I was that popular when I was here."

"You were, you just didn't take notice. I think it's sweet that you didn't. To many people here worry about things like that, you don't." Maia said, a light smile on her lips, her eyes very bright in the fact she admired Susan's attitude towards that sort of thing even now.

It reminded her of the first time they had gone up to the station, everyone making a fuss over Susan and she just took it all in and stayed the same Susan. She loved that.

"Hmm, now I'm going to get a big head, an ego, and want to join a cheerleading squad or something," Ivanova chuckled. "I'm not really built to be popular in high school, you know."

"What a pair we make them." Maia said with a wicked grin "Because popularity doesn't rank high on my list of things about myself I strive for." She laughed and squeezed Susan's hand for a second before relaxing into her and laying back a little. This is nice

Very nice, Ivanova thought, wondering where that had come from.

"Although I am somewhat bemoaning this lack of privacy we seem to find ourselves with . . ."

Maia leaned her head up and smiled at her, "well we can always sneak off into the secluded areas of the woods or even back to the dorms if you really want privacy. Or I could just kiss you right here." Maia said before leaning in and pressed her lips gently to Susan's. Your choice

Ivanova kissed her back briefly, but pulled away reluctantly, squeezing her hand. "Not here," she said softly. "Too many people. I want it to be special, not a public spectacle."

Maia nodded with a smile. Her heart pounded in her ears for a moment before she nodded again. "So do I." She said and she knew it would be. Even just sitting on Susan's lap by the campfire was more then enough special for Maia.

Ivanova grinned and wrapped an arm around Maia's waist, pulling her closer. Yes, this was very, very nice. "So, how was your day? I didn't even ask yet."

"It was nice. I got some things in town that I might need for my astronomy class and..." Maia smiled even broader and leaned into Ivanova's ear "Things for my other class as well, in case homework comes up."

"Astronomy sounds . . . wait." Ivanova was suddenly wary. "What other class? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Maia's smile became even more seductive as she leaned in again so nobody could over hear her "You'll see. If the course description lives up to it's words."

"Alright, now I'm worried," she said, even if she was laughing as she said it. And, regardless of the other people, she leaned up and kissed Maia softly. "How much longer until we're out of these cabins?" she asked plaintively.

Maia smiled into the kiss but did not deepen it for the onlookers. "Two weeks was the going rate last go around. We can go back to the dorms though, if we 'need' something that isn't in the cabin." She said very gently. Maia wanted to kiss her again but refrained from doing so.

"Ah. I think we might just have to." She sighed. "Although I'm pretty sure I could sit like this all night."

Maia nodded happily, "I like this." She said as she rested her head back against Ivanova's shoulder. "Just like this." She said, her fingers idly playing with Ivanovna's.

"Yeah, it's very relaxing." Ivanova chuckled. "I keep expecting Drazi ninjas to swoop out of nowhere and ruin everything."
