Koala Cabin, Late Afternoon

Bel shimmered over to Koala with his and Phoebe's stuff and the kittens, then lounged outside the cabin, enjoying the heat. The humidity he could do without, but the heat was almost like home.

"I think I'm melting," Dawn said, collapsing near Bel in a heap. "But you look pretty comfortable."

"It's not hotter than hell yet," Bel said with a grin.

She laughed. "No, I guess not. Though I've heard hell is kind of industrial and cement-like. I'd think that would be cooler, like a basement."

Bel chuckled. "Not where I'm from. It's pretty much like the cliches say -- hot, rocky, barren, hellish red glow, occasional pits of lava."

"Oooh, sounds like a great vacation spot," Dawn teased. "Add funky looking shirts and it'll be a tourist mecca."

"No self-respecting demon would be caught dead in a Hawaiian shirt," Bel said solemnly.

"What about half-demon? With no clothes of his own?"

Bel pondered this. "Is death an option?"

"Depends on who you're talking to," Dawn smirked. "And what if it's a small, tasteful-ish print?"

Bel eyed Dawn warily. "Is there such a thing?"

She cracked up. "Relax, Bel. I'm not going shirt shopping for you. You can retain all your cool wardrobe points."

"For a moment, I thought you were going to team up with Pippi to re-dress me," Bel said with a wink.

"Why is Pippi going to redress you?" Dawn asked. "I mean, you've got that great 'hey, I used to be evil' fashion sense. Why would you give that up?"

"When I was stuck in demon form she made me go clothes shopping," Bel explained. "And tried to convince me to abandon basic black."

"But...it matched," Dawn said, a bit lamely, "And it's not like anything else was gonna make you look less demony. It'd be like Angel wearing lavender. Just...wrong."

"Exactly!" Bel agreed. "Just because I'm good now doesn't mean I can't still wear black. Angel does, after all."

"Yes. At the risk of sounding too much like my sister, being good is no reason to be unfashionable," she grinned at him, then started giggling. "And can you imagine Angel in a non-neutral? He'd probably go into shock."

Bel shuddered. "So would everyone around him, I think," he said. "They'd think he was possessed."

"And you? Is that how we'll tell if it ever happens to you?" Dawn asked, then studied him. "Can you be possessed?"

"A demon possess another demon?" Bel said. "I don't think that's possible." Little did he know.

"Oh, that's good," she said with some relief. "It must be nice not to have to worry about that."

"Never thought about it much," Bel said. "But I guess I don't have to worry about your boyfriend throwing salt and holy water at me then."

"He better not," Dawn said firmly. "At least not until you're irredemably evil. Then he can do what he wants."

"Salt doesn't bother me," Bel said. "Not sure if the holy water will make a difference, either."

"Wow, must be nice to be almost invulnerable," Dawn nodded.
