3rd Floor Common Room, Sunday Night

Angela had spent most of the weekend holed up in her room, deliberately working her way through a Francesca Lia Block anthology and emerging only to sip oversweetened coffee and gaze soulfully at fruit salad.

But all good things must come to an end. Which is why she was in the common room, watching an I Love the 90's marathon on VH-1 and hoping someone would tell her she doesn't look that goofy.

Company would be welcome.

Hermione swallows before adding, "And mouthwash, and regular- My parents are dentists." Might as well just get that out of the way.

"Cool!" Willow replied. "Unless they're evil. But they had you so I'm assuming not."

She frowns, and asks, "Evil dentists?"

"It happens," Willow said. "Oh! So what's this thing about elves? Peter was telling me they're treated horribly where you come from?"

Evil dentists are quickly forgotten in the name of the Cause. "Yes," she says. "We have house elves, who spend their entire lives in the service of humans, cooking and cleaning and doing all the odd jobs. A lot of the time they're horribly mistreated by their... owners. If they're given clothes, they're freed, and can go on to live their own life without having to answer to anyone else."

"How can I help?" Willow asked.

"Do you know how to knit?"

Willow's face fell. "I've heard of it?"

"It's all right, I'm sure I could teach you," she says. "I only just learned myself."

"That'd be great!" Willow said. "And if I knit that can help the elves?"

"Yes," she answers. "I've been knitting for them and have accumulated quite a bit. I'll have to send it off to Hogwarts to be passed out to the elves. I also may start accepting donations of clothing, hats and socks and scarves and children's clothing, send those along as well."

Willow looked like she wished she had a notebook to write that down. "Whatever I can do, count me in. The whole thing sounds horrible!"

"It is!" Hermione says, shaking her head. "And it's so common in the wizarding world that no one even thinks about it."

"Have you told Blair?" Willow asked. "I bet he'd help."

"I did," she says. "He seemed very interested. He even quoted me for the school newsletter on the subject."

"He's great like that," Willow said. She noticed the time. As did her mun "Darn. Morning class. I should go."

"It's been good talking with you," she smiles. "And I'll be around, anytime you want to learn."

"Maybe this week," Willow said, then got her things to go.
