Salle - Wednesday Late Morning

After a morning run, Peter arrived at the salle with some time to work on his own forms before Willow was supposed to meet him. He extracted Rhindon from the weapons' cabinet and began working through forms from the simplest moving on to the more difficult ones. He had planned on moving smoothly through them, but as he noticed corrections, he began to stop, reset himself and work through one or two moves over and over until he was happy with the flow. As often happens, he completely lost track of time.

"I was taught them and use them," Peter said. "They're as much meditative as anything at times and help train your muscles to the fluidity of moving from one position to the next." He considered. "If one just practices strikes, I don't feel one learns how to put the moves together. It's a fine balance though."

"Then let's do forms," Willow said. "I trust you not to teach me something wrong."

Peter smiled at her. "Forms are more like dancing."

"Ooo." Willow smiled back. "I like dancing with you."

"That one's circular," Peter said. "Have you stretched?"

"To the best of my ability, yes."

Peter tilted his head at her. "Have I not shown you a stretching routine yet?" He knew he hadn't, but he was really hoping that she'd randomly picked one up somewhere.

"I looked one up online," she told him. She also patted him on the arm reassuringly.

Peter nodded, gratefully taking the comment at face value. He went to take two practice swords from the wall and handed the one she usually used to Willow with a smile.

"You start in a basic ready position," He grinned. "And find your balance."

Willow got a determined look on her face and got into position. She kept making adjustments until she felt she was balanced. "Okay."

"Very well then, first part of form number one. These should all be strikes we've worked with," he said, falling into a ready position, himself. "Pivot to the right, low block, then a reverse low block," he said, demonstrating slowly.

Willow watched him carefully, then followed.

She made it through to the end before nearly tripping.

Peter nodded. "Not bad. Keep your center of balance in mind - you want to move around it rather than forcing it to move with you."

"Of course," Willow said. Then tried to pretend she knew how to do that.

Peter took one look at her and nodded. "It's the point where your weight is evenly distributed from. If you know where it is, you can keep your weight aligned and help keep yourself in balance. For a woman, I've been told it's between your hips where one would carry a baby."

Willow had a slightly besotted smile.

Peter was concentrating on not blushing at the particular topic of conversation and didn't even notice. "So if you pay close attention, you can actually feel where it is. All your weight moves around it." He demonstrated the move where Willow tripped. "See, you don't lose your balance if you stay aligned."

"I shall do my best," Willow said. "And you're really cute when you're polite."

Peter grinned. "I try to remember my manners."

"You're very successful," Willow said. She smiled at him. "Would it ruin our training if I gave you a quick smooch? Or should I wait for after?"

"If you're sure it won't interrupt your concentration," Peter said mock-seriously.

"Hello? Which one of us is the smart one?" Willow got up on tiptoe and gave him a quick kiss.

Peter kissed her back, making it a little longer than quick. "It's not the same type of concentration, I'll have you know."

"I still say I have the brainpower to handle it," Willow told him, not minding a longer kiss at all.

"I don't doubt that a bit," Peter replied. "So? Try it again?"
