Second floor common room [Evening]

Anakin had spent most of the day brooding meditating and replaying the trip to Coruscant in his mind.

The thoughts it had led to had been entirely too depressing.

That's why he had migrated up to the second floor common room and commandeered the television set.

Not that the last Space Battles prequel was any less depressing, but he could keep himself entertained by mocking the terrible technology and equally terrible dialogue.

Then things better of it and asks, "How are you doing?"

"Sometimes they might been to be hit a little," she admits, though she's not willing to lump them all together. "Any one in particular?"

"Which one do you think?"

She doesn't need to ask. "It's so bad you're generalizing all males into it?"

"Yah-huh."

Aeryn raises her eyebrows. "Should I lend you a pulse rifle and... some mode of transportation?"

"I appreciate the offer, but I doubt he possesses enough braincells to take the hint."

"You think I need something less subtle?"

"Maybe more subtle," she says. And then remembers this is Angel. "Maybe a little less."

"I figure a watergun of holy water might be his kind of subtle."

That doesn't mean he'd get the point. "If you don't mind me asking, what did he do?"

"Rang me up for the first him in I don't know how long. Not because he wan't to talk, but because he thought i was pregnant," Callisto said. "Found out I wasn't he couldn't get off the phone fast enough."

"Oh," Aeryn says, internally wincing a little. "I'm sorry."

"Doesn't matter anyway," Callisto said. "Another week and I'll go home and he'll never have to worry his pretty little empty head over me ever again."

She could say that she doubts that's true, but she really had no idea. "Next week already?"

"And you said you're going back home?" she asks.

"There's nothing here for me," Callisto shrugged. "Not really. Least back there I have something to die for."

Aeryn's had a rough day, and she might overidentify with that sort of thing normally. "Just like that?" she asks. "Go back just to die?"

"Wasn't like it was ever going to end any other way."

"You don't know that yet," Aeryn says. "There should be more than that. I'd think a year here would prove that."

"All it proved is that hope is a fool's game," Callisto said. "and I'm the biggest fool of them all."
