Second floor common room [Evening]

Anakin had spent most of the day brooding meditating and replaying the trip to Coruscant in his mind.

The thoughts it had led to had been entirely too depressing.

That's why he had migrated up to the second floor common room and commandeered the television set.

Not that the last Space Battles prequel was any less depressing, but he could keep himself entertained by mocking the terrible technology and equally terrible dialogue.

"You just don't like writing, do you."

"What's there to write about? 'Dear Parker. Today I killed people. Go me. Callisto'"

"'Dear Parker. Today I saved people as well as killed them. Today I re-commissioned the weapons. Today I learned a new cool thing with the sword. Today I--'" Parker's trying to think and then points at Callisto, triumphant. "Ooo. 'Today I met Hercules and Iolaus.'"

"Dear Parker. Today I posioned Iolaus to get at Hercules because Hera promised me a way to get at Xena. It did not go well and as a result I am both immortal and trapped in a cape for the rest of eternity. Cal. PS. Rats are boring company."

Parker thought about that for a whole second. "Yeah, don't do that. Seriously."

"I suppose you don't want the 'Dear Parker. Became a god today. Getting stuck in lava sucks. Please to be sending jackhammer crew at earliest convience.' either?" Callisto asked. "It was a kinda comprehensive vision."

"No, you can send that one. I actually can find a jackhammer somewhere. Although it sounds like a bulldozer would be a better option." Parker glared at her. "Greek fatalism is responsible for tragedy. I'm finally getting what was such a buzzkill about the Oresteia."

Parker blinked, then rubbed her face. "A trilogy based on history, the fall of the house of... forget it. Not important. The Furies win, that's all you need to know."

[identity profile] psycho-barbie.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
"The Furies who drive those who fail to avenge their kinsmen mad."

"Yeah. If they were here, I'd have to tell them... well. I'd have to ask them to give me a decade or so, I'm working on it."

"Gods don't work to human timescales."

"This is why I don't believe in them."

Parker's quiet a minute, and says, "Keep looking for an out. And remember that you can come back."

She patted her on the shoulder. "And on that? I go to wait for a phone call. Night, Callisto."

"Night, Parker."
