5th Floor Common Room, Late Monday Morning

JD was sitting on the floor in the 5th floor common room, wearing a pair of lime green pajama bottoms with little blue puppies on them and a white wife beater tank top. Crossed legged in front of the TV, he is watching cartoons and tossing a small bouncy ball repeatedly against the wall.

"You think right." Pippi nodded. "I just meant that he's mischievous sometimes."

Dean laughed, glad he'd lucked out and gotten someone helpful AND fun assigned to him. "Ah, gotcha. Sounds like the best kind of big brother to have, then."

Pippi nodded her agreement again.

"So how are you settling in?"

"Pretty good, actually, considering all the adjusting I have to do. A girl roommate? People from other times and dimensions and realities? Luckily everyone's also really nice in addition to being as close to insane as it's possible to get." He laughed, and realized not for the first time that there were a lot of pretty girls in Fandom. Really pretty. In fact, everyone was so generally good-looking, he wondered if maybe there was some sort of secret selection process.

"I can see how rooming with a girl would be odd if you've never done it before." Pippi nodded. "Who's your roommate? Is she new too?"

"Lyra Belacqua's my roommate, and yeah she's new too. But I've definitely never roomed with a girl before. I have a little sister at home, but we've never had to share a room, and anyway, an almost-stranger is a lot different from my sister." He shrugged, not too worried even though it was weird.

"Ooh, I don't have any siblings... except for the ones the school assigns at the beginning of the terms for new students. What's your sister's name?"

"She's Clara. Loves horseback riding. You two would probably really get along," he added, nodding at Old Man heading down the stairs.

"Oh! Do you ride?"

"No, not me. Not really my thing. But it seems fun, though. I don't know if there's a horse in the world tall enough for me." He stretched his arm up, illustrating.

"Ah, I dunno, there's some breeds come pretty tall." she said. "What classes did you sign up for?"

"I'm hoping to get into Engergy and Fitness, World History, Hunting 101, and that Literature one. What about you? And when do we find out if we got into the classes we wanted, do you know?" He figured it couldn't hurt to ask, at any rate.

"Creature Languages, Dance, Constant Vigilance, Humor in medicine, and Science... Some of them are very popular classes so I may not get them." she said. "And since classes start on Monday? Probably some time between Friday and Sunday."

"God, just a week away. Seems way too soon. Just so much going on, I guess." He looked back to the TV, distracted for a second by the cartoons. "Does it ever slow down around here?"

"Not very often... But sometimes... Aside from everybody arriving and getting settled in, this is a pretty mellow week so far."
