Third Floor Common Room, Tuesday morning

Walter was cooking breakfast and making a list. So far he had a remarkable array of eggs cooked in different styles, a loaf's worth of toast, far too many sausages, and a few boxes of cereal sitting out next to a gallon of milk.

You'd think he was cooking for more than himself. While he worked, a small black puppy scampered at his feet apparently trying to stab a paper ball with a pencil held in his teeth.

The list was for Mary Poppins, who had somehow thought that he'd volunteered as her Teacher's Assistant.

Walter Dornez - Hellpuppy
Rory Gilmore - Vampire puppy
Nadia Santos - Blue cat that disobeys the laws of physics
Alphonse Elric - Kitten
(just a plain, normal, cute kitten... who knew?)
Veruca Cally - Lemming
Pip Bernadette - Psychotic cat
Ranma - Puppy
Alanna - Talking, intelligent, snarky cat
Pippi Longstocking - Spider Squirrel monkey
Pippi Longstocking - Horse
Blair Sandburg - Two goldfish
Angela Chase - Cat
River Tam - Berthold??
Belthazor and Phoebe Halliwell - Two cats
Samuel Anders - Goldfish
Bridge Carson - Robot dog

He knew there had to be more than that. He'd keep working on it.

[ooc: Help Walter with his list? Help me with the list. The food's for anyone.]

Apparently Anders had that free-food instinct, as he wandered up a floor with his yo-yo in hand. Maybe it was appropriate, however unwittingly, that he was trying to get the hang of a trick called the Double Gerbil possibly dirty and making a pretty big mess of it.

"Hey, Walter," he said a bit distractedly. "Hiya, Pup."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Eh, just trying out a trick," Anders replied, though his expression hinted otherwise. "Whatcha up to? Trying to lure in unsuspecting newbies with food?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Can some of the not-so-new kids mooch a little bit, too?" Anders grinned down at Pup and abandoned the Double Gerbil in favor of a slightly less complicated lariat trick that he'd mostly gotten the hang of, for the hellpuppy's amusement.

Anders ignored his stomach's growling prompt for a few more minutes in favor of Pup's antics, then finally reeled the yo-yo back in and piled a plate with eggs, sausage, and toast. "Haven't gotten out much, but I did meet one guy yesterday, Skif. Totally emptied my pockets without me ever noticing. Seems to be a good guy, though. Apparently where he comes from he's something called a Herald. Law enforcement for the kingdom, I think. How 'bout you?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wait. Looks like Sam, name is Dean?" Anders let out a whistle. "Yeah, that'll get real confusing real fast. What's with the writing? That can't be homework already?"

"I have a goldfish," Anders offered. "How'd you end up the TA?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, that'd do it. What's she like?"

"Anders!" Stark waved a hello, then gave him an odd look. "What are you doing?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, Stark!" Anders did an around-the-corner with the yo-yo by way of greeting. "Just practicing yo-yo tricks, that's all. And getting food. What's up?"

[personal profile] stykera 2006-08-29 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Stark started to look up before remembering that's not what that phrase meant.

"That's a yo-yo?" he asked, pointing. "I smelled breakfast, so I came to see if there really was breakfast. And there was. How are you?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"About to not be hungry any more, I think." Anders grinned. "Kind of bored, otherwise. Trying not to think about the fact that we only have a few days left before classes start up again."

[personal profile] stykera 2006-08-29 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not ready for more classes? I like having something to do. But not having anything to do for a few days is nice." Stark paused, then grinned. "You could always make cupcakes if you're very bored."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've thought about it, yeah. Sort of a cupcake welcoming ritual for the new kids, maybe," mused Anders. "Hey, what are you taking this semester?"

[personal profile] stykera 2006-08-29 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Cupcakes are always a good thing," Stark said, nodding seriously. "I signed up for Constant Vigilance with the Doctor, and Creature Languages that has a new name and I will sign up for the rest if I can ever stop being indecisive.. And you?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Spies and Spying, Fitness and Energy, Good Omens, and Interstellar Relations," Anders replied. "It should be interesting. I'm actually looking forward to it. Especially Interstellar Relations, 'cause wheeeeee."

[personal profile] stykera 2006-08-29 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Interesting combination. They should be interesting," Stark agreed.

"I'm hoping so. Heard the Doctor's workshop was super popular. Let me know how that one goes?" Anders tried another around-the-corner and pulled it off with some flair this time; he grinned, pleased with himself. "I love my yo-yo."
stykera: (what a dork)

[personal profile] stykera 2006-08-29 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"I liked the Doctor's workshop for the summer. And I like the Doctor. It should be a good class." Stark watched Anders do the yo-yo trick curiously. "Is that just for doing," he made some flaily motions with his hands, "things with?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's . . . pretty much a toy, yeah," Anders said slowly. He took a few steps back to give himself some clear space, then demonstrated a Reach for the Moon (http://www.begin2spin.com/entry2.php?tid=165). "Conner does hackysack stuff to improve his footwork for soccer. I thought the hand-eye coordination here would help me with Pyramid, some."

Which wasn't exactly true, though it had occurred to him after the fact.
