Third Floor Common Room, Tuesday morning

Walter was cooking breakfast and making a list. So far he had a remarkable array of eggs cooked in different styles, a loaf's worth of toast, far too many sausages, and a few boxes of cereal sitting out next to a gallon of milk.

You'd think he was cooking for more than himself. While he worked, a small black puppy scampered at his feet apparently trying to stab a paper ball with a pencil held in his teeth.

The list was for Mary Poppins, who had somehow thought that he'd volunteered as her Teacher's Assistant.

He knew there had to be more than that. He'd keep working on it.

Xander's lip twitched, and he made it turn into a smile by sheer force of will. "We're even - I hate to see me go too. If I could import Sunnydale here-- okay, I wouldn't, because this place doesn't need a portal to hell under the library on top of everything else. But just the college, maybe..."

Anders noticed the lip twitch, and flailed after an attempt at humor to try and make up for hitting such a sore spot. "There might be room for the college if we level the rocky bits, maybe . . ."

"Or we could put it in one of the rooms on the sixth floor - plenty of space in there," Xander pointed out.
