Having rummaged through every drawer in Angela's room to no avail, the gremlin-bitten girl went to what looked like some kind of living room. She climbed up on the counter and started poking through the cabinets; there had to be alcohol somewhere.

After all, this was, like, some fancy boarding school, right?

"Tingly. That's a new one," Alphonse said. "I'm a bigger fan of sweets anyway."

"Sweet and spicy?" Alphonse looked slightly disgusted. "You must have a stomach made out of iron."

"Gold. It was lead, but . . . well. . . ."

"Well, be lucky you're not where I'm from then," Alphonse said lightly. "That's kind of illegal back home."

"Lead into gold is illegal?"

"Why?"

"Um." Alphonse would've thought that would be obvious. "Well, it wouldn't be fair, too many people would be getting too rich, it would probably decrease its value far too much over time..."

"They'd just have to make something else valuable."

"Then others would go off and start creating a lot of that."

"Not if it's REALLY HARD to make!"

"Most of the natural elements aren't very hard to figure out how to mess with."

"So you get an unnatural one. That only a few people could make."

"I guess that's possible, but so far the regulation of gold hasn't been very troublesome, either."
