Since she's now afraid of her computer-- at least until someone explains how not to find pornography to her-- and Mrs. Gilmore told her to watch television, Evie has decided to do her homework.

She is currently watching a rerun of Crime & Justice. It's not entirely clear to her how it works, but it's definitely fascinating.

Evie waved to the newcomer, then frowned when she saw how friendly he was with Mr. Hutter. "Hmm."

JD waived back, showing a friendly smile.

He extended a hand.

"I'm JD. And you would be?"

Very lovely indeed.

Well, perhaps he doesn't know Mr. Hutter that well. Strange handclaps aside.

"Evie Carnahan, hullo." She grasped his hand and shook it, smiling brightly. "I'm a new sophomore here. What year are you in?"

"I'm a freshman. But I'm mature for my age."

"Well, I'm very immature for mine." Evie looked very proud of herself. "I'm one hundred and five. Technically." She tried to hold a pokerface, then sighed. "Oh, not really. I'm fifteen."

"You must have just barely missed the cut-off, then!" Evie smiled brightly at him, and asked, "Are you from this year? 2006, I mean. I'm from 1916. That's how I'm technically in my one-hundreds."

Well, he's very nice! Not at all like Pete. Smarmy Pete. Grr.

JD grins. "Yup, I'm from the now. This whole time travel thing is really weird."

JD makes a wavy motion with his hands when he mentions time travel.

Evie cocked her head, and waved back at him uncomprehendingly. "Yes it is, I didn't even know I *had* traveled in time, but... what does this--" Wavy hand mostion, "have to do with it?"

"It's, you know, mystical."

He makes the same wavy motion with his hands.

"And bendy. Like time is bendy."

"Time is... bendy?" Evie wants her notebook. Now. "And mystical? I always thought it was a constant. Or a scientific fact." She imitates JD again. It looks more like flailing. "Can you bend time like this?"

"I can't bend time, but it must be bendy. We're both here, right?"

He makes the bendy motion again, twisting his body this time for added effect.

"This is just for dramatic effect."

"There is that," Evie said thoughtfully, although she hadn't considered it before. She bends her arms back and forth, wooooo woooooooo, and then tries to bend like JD. And falls off the couch.

JD gapes as he hears clown music in the background. After listening to said music for a moment, he rushes over.

"Are you ok?"

"Yes." Ah, the joys of being graceless. Evie flailed a bit, then got to her knees, leaning on the couch as she got back to her feet. "I... did not mean to do that. But! It does demonstrate that time is bendier than I am. Doesn't it."

JD helps her to her feet.

I'd like to see how bendy you are.

JD's eyes widened.

"I didn't say that out loud, did I?"

Evie gave him an inquisitive look as she brushes off her skirt. "Say what aloud? 'That'?"

JDs eyes shifted from side to side.

"Uh, nothing."

Do not say banana hammock.

"You're pretty."

Damn. Not the right thing to say, either.

Evie blinked at him, then giggled, rising up on her toes in a bounce, then coming back down on her heels. "Thank you, that's a very kind thing to say. You're very charming, JD." She beamed at him. "All of the boys here are so nice." She glared over at Pete. "With a few exceptions."

JD blushed at the compliment, stammering something that sounded like it might have been a "thank you".

Then he looked at Pete, and waved a hand dismissively at him.

"Ah, that's just Pete. He doesn't mean anything by it."

"Well, perhaps not." Evie folded her arms reflexively over her chest, and huffed a bit. "But, really, *must* he stare so? I don't know how to respond. Aside from staring back, and I don't wish to! He's not Shirtless Alec, for heaven's sake!" She put a hand over her face. "Oh, lord..."

JD raised an eyebrow, just barely managing to not look at Evie's crossed arms.

"Oh really? And who is Shirtless Alec?"

His tone was curious, but playful and gossipy.

Evie blushed again. "Alec. I don't know his last name. But he looks exactly like Dean Winchester and he was wandering around without his shirt my first day here and oh my god he's beautiful and I'm afraid I flailed rather a lot," all said in one breath. She turned brighter red. "Dean's very nice. But it's rather, distracting? That I know what he looks like with his shirt off. In a way. So to speak." She put her hands over her face, then flailed again. "Oh God why can't I stop *talking*?"

"Aw, you're cute when you talk," he said reassuringly.

Too bad girls don't walk around without their shirts.

"So, do you have a crush on either of them?" JD asked conspiratorily.

"No!" Evie turned brighter red. "Perhaps. Maybe. But there's so *many* handsome, nice boys here. Dean-who-lives-next-door is very sweet, and, and... Dr. Jackson is lovely." More redness. Then she bounced, shaking her head. "But I shan't tell you more! No! Unless, unlesssss you have a crush on someone and tell me!" she added triumphantly. "Ha."
