Third Floor Common Room, Friday Afternoon

WIth no classes today, the twins lounged in the common room. Hikaru was eatting popcorn and watching the Z FIles while Kaoru sat to the side, making what must have sounded like strange barking as he looked over his Cross Species Communications vocabulary packet.

Pup turned away from Kaoru to scamper over to Pete and bounce around at his feet, yapping happily.

Walter flipped through the packet to see if any of the yaps were in it.

Because Pete is incredibly hard to train, he leaned over to scoop Pup up. "Who's a good little creepy beyond all reason ball of fluff? You are! You are!"

[ooc: And I just figured out that that's Pup's collar, and not his TEETH.]

And because Walter has been completely unable to break Pup of that one habit, his tongue went straight for Pete's nose face.

And there was the flailing again. "Ack! This canine is entirely too affectionate!" Pete leaned back and admonished Pup with a rather impressive growl.

Pup's eyes glowed more brightly and he growled playfully back at Pete. If playful includes the hellish undertones of countless other hounds.

"It's better than the alternative," Walter said, apparently unaffected by the growling.

Pete blinked at Pup, then grinned at him. "This here is a canine that I can relate to. Unlike," Pete glanced at Walter. "Some human types."

Walter lifted a lip scornfully. "At least some of us know manners."

Pup grinned a puppy grin and jumped at Pete again for more licking.

Pete laughed happily at Pup's antics. "I find that manners are only for those who are too afraid to tell the truth."

Walter frowned at the implication that he was afraid of anything. "No. Manners are for those who live among other humans and wish to do so in a manner that shows respect for themselves and others."

"And why the hell should I respect other people? They ain't never respected me,"

"Why would anyone respect you when your first reaction is to be disrespectful," Walter countered.

"Well maybe that wasn't always my first reaction until I was scapegoated, persecuted, and pariahed for a simple clothing malfunction."

"Does that explain how you treat girls, too?"

"What the hell do . . ." Pete decided to try out his new slang. "chicks have to do with this?"

"Girls have a lot to do with a discussion of manners with you," Walter said, frowning more at the slang. "Since my girlfriend tells me yours are terrible."

"Yeah, who the hell is your chickyfriend?"

"Nadia Santos. About this," he held up a hand, "tall, dark hair, Argentine accent, very pretty." If Pete had noticed any of those things other than the last.

"She the one who wanted a menajay troy?"

Walter's first thought was, how did you know about that? But with this guy? No chance.

"I quite doubt that."

"Don' know her, then. But there was this chick who looked just like that who seemed to like that three-way, kinky stuff."

"With an accent?"

"Sounded Mexican or somethin'."

"Argentine," Walter corrected. "She definitely wasn't proposing a menage a trois with you."
