Thanks to a laundry...incident, Dawn was wearing the t-shirt she'd borrowed from Dean after the Meerkat cabin theft, which was way too long for her, and the skirt she'd stolen borrowed from Buffy before she left Cleveland, which was way too short. Not unlike Buffy, come to think of it.

Just so people would think it was intentional, though, she put up a small sign, hastily written on notebook paper and stuck to the door of the common room.

In other news, she was trying to learn her domesticated canine vocabulary for class on Monday.

"He's pretty cool," Bel said. "Sucks that he can't hide what he is at all, though. At least I can blend."

"Does he want to hide what he is?" Dawn asked.

Bel shrugged. "Don't think so, at least not here. But I hope Daddy Winchester there doesn't give him any crap."

"He better not," Dawn clenched her jaw.

"Well, so far he's being as reasonable as his kids," Bel said with a shrug, "so hopefully he won't start something he'll regret."

Dawn sighed in relief. "They're still being good to you? Sam and Dean, I mean? And if he starts something, I guess he'll learn that there's more than just Blair's incredibly misguided protest to deal with."

"Well, they're still of the mind that their dad could kick my ass if he wanted to, which I tend to disagree with, but yeah, we're good," he said. "They've been around enough to know that I'm not all grr argh demony anymore."

"If you're ever grrr argh demony? He's going to kick your ass?" Dawn snorted. "He'll have to get in line behind Phoebe, her sisters, the administration, Buffy, me....not that I can do much to you other than pout...not that I don't think Mister Winchester's got skills, but I think he's underestimating you. No one else will do that."

Bel grinned. "I know. And I have no intention of doing anything like that. I want to be a hero now."

Dawn couldn't help it--she started giggling. "I'm sorry, that just sounds funny. But I'm sure you'll be very good at it."

Bel may have pouted a little at the giggling.

"I'm really sorry," Dawn said, trying to taper the giggling back. "I meant that you'll be a very strong and powerful warrior for the forces of good."

Bel made a face at her. "I will, just watch!" he said.

She made a face back. "I will. I'll just sit and wait for you to tell me all about heroing."

"Will you chronicle my heroic deeds?" Bel asked, batting his eyes.

"I absolutely will," Dawn said with a nod. "I could practice being your Watcher and keep everything in a bound journal so future generations can be all awe-having."

"Think there's ever been a demon Watcher?" Bel asked, smirking.

"Nope. Think it'll make Buffy and Giles's heads explode?" She grinned back.

He snickered. "Want them to?"

"It's always very funny. And there's glasses polishing. If I'm really lucky, they lecture each other instead of me."
