Third Floor Common Room [Saturday Evening]

Having nothing better to do, Carmela was sprawled on a couch in the common room, channel surfing. Not so unusual.

What *was* unusual was the *way* she was doing it. The remote sat off to the side, untouched, and the TV was apparently changing channels on its own, every time Carmela said "No."

[ooc: a note about the Speech. It's in italics, and since it's the language of *everything*, your character will most likely hear whatever's being said as in their native language. If they listen especially carefully or have an ear for languages, they might be able to tell there's something unusual about it, though.]

"Not that new. I got here at the beginning of the summer," Conner said. If anything, the grin was bigger now. "I would've remembered seeing you before."

"I just got here a few weeks ago," Summer explained. "I'm Summer, by the way. Very nice to meet you."

"Conner McKnight," he replied, grin not yet anywhere near abating. "And the pleasure is definitely all mine."

Summer found Conner's grinning to be kinda cute and not at all creepy. "Taking any interesting classes this semester? I know I would have remembered if you were in any of mine."

"Hunting 101's going to be fun," Conner enthused, "and I really like my literature class so far. Seems kind of dumb that I didn't take Fitness and Energy, though. I mean, I could probably use it."

Summer grinned. "Health isn't a bad class to take. You'd get to learn about fitness, energy...possibly CPR?"

"CPR's always a useful skill," Conner agreed readily, his eyebrows waggling in a very unsubtle way.

"I agree. Very useful, yes," Summer said with a grin. "So, where are you from?"

"Reefside, California. You probably haven't heard of it," Conner replied. "It might not exist in this dimension. How 'bout you?"

"Newport Beach. Also in California. So we have something in common," Summer said. "Maybe there's a Newport Beach in your dimension?"

"Yeah, actually. My twin brother sent me a postcard from there a couple of weeks ago," Conner said. "I think he was touring through there with his rollerblading team."

He grinned even more broadly. "Nice to have something in common with a pretty girl like you, for starters."

"So if there's a Newport Beach in your dimension, maybe there's a Reefside in mine. Or we could be from the same dimension" she continued, sounding a bit hopeful.

"California's a big state," Conner agreed, just as hopefully. "We could always look it up and try to find out."

"I really like that idea," Summer said, nodding.
