Third Floor Common Room [Saturday Evening]

Having nothing better to do, Carmela was sprawled on a couch in the common room, channel surfing. Not so unusual.

What *was* unusual was the *way* she was doing it. The remote sat off to the side, untouched, and the TV was apparently changing channels on its own, every time Carmela said "No."

[ooc: a note about the Speech. It's in italics, and since it's the language of *everything*, your character will most likely hear whatever's being said as in their native language. If they listen especially carefully or have an ear for languages, they might be able to tell there's something unusual about it, though.]

"I'm still getting used to things like that happening," Summer admitted. Then she smiled. "I'm Summer. Nice to meet you."

"You're from one of the worlds without weird stuff?," Angela guessed. "Me too. It's ... a bit of a change."

"Yeah, I guess I am," Summer said. "So, did it take you a long time to get used to the weird stuff?"

"It was really different when we started last year," Angela explained. "People were there the first day and then never again, we had zombies, everyone was throwing a fit over the weapons ban ... I kind of just decided to deal and did."

"Guess I have to rely on some of my shoes for weapons if a zombie decides to attack," Summer joked.

"Stilettos would probably be best," Angela joked. "They were scary but dumb. Bean them and I bet they'd run away."

[absolutesnark]

"So someone like me might have been able to take a zombie out?" She was kind of amused by that.

[chasingangela]

"I did," Angela said quietly. "It was odd. Someone handed me a gun and I got lucky."

She made herself smile. "Oh, but the snow monsters you could definitely have killed. I got a few with a pot of ramen noodles."

"You shot one? That's so cool," Summer said, awed. "Snow monsters? Yeah, guess I could melt one of those with my curling iron or something."

"I had no idea what I was doing, but somehow, yeah," Angela said. "And you wouldn't even need to get close enough to use a curling iron. We mostly threw hot stuff at them from the roof. It was like a party with monsters, kind of."

"You almost make it sound like fun," Summer said with a laugh.

"For an invasion it was," Angela said with a little shrug. "You know, all things considered. So where are you from, originally?"

[absolutesnark]

"Newport Beach, California. Um, 2003," Summer added. At least that was getting easier to tell people. "How about you?"

"Three Rivers, Pennsylvania," Angela said. "1996. So I have the time displacement thing too."

[absolutesnark]

"1996? I was like eight then," Summer said. "And I guess I would be eighteen in 2006. Wow. Weird."

[chasingangela]

"You make me feel old," Angela groaned. "Twenty-six-year-old me turned up around Christmas. Some weird alternate reality thing."

She paused. "If you ever have to go into the part of the library labeled Special Collections? Wear gloves."

"You mean the books around here can attack people, too?" Summer might have a look of complete horror on her face.

[chasingangela]

"Only a few," Angela hastily reassured her. "And they're mostly locked up."

[absolutesnark]

"Huh." Summer made a mental note to stay away from the library if at all possible.
